About the Role

Our client, a leader in specialty chemical manufacturing, is looking for a dedicated Chemical Safety and Compliance Engineer to join their facility in Zapopan, Jalisco. This vital role ensures that all operations meet stringent safety standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety and environmental programs.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, JSA) to identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training to employees at all levels.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and environmental compliance.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and respond to inquiries or inspections.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives.
- Oversee chemical inventory management and waste disposal procedures.




- Stay current with changes in safety and environmental legislation and best practices.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in safety engineering, environmental compliance, or process safety within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Proven experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong understanding of chemical hazards and control measures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Strong training and communication abilities.
- Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) is a strong plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in Zapopan, Jalisco or the surrounding Guadalajara metropolitan area is preferred.
