About the Role

Our client, a prominent digital publication focused on arts and culture, is seeking a sharp, insightful, and eloquent Crítico de Arte y Comentarista Cultural . This hybrid role allows for remote work, complemented by in-person attendance at key events, gallery openings, and studio visits within the Saltillo, Coahuila, MX region and potentially beyond. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality written content, including reviews, essays, and analyses of exhibitions, performances, and broader cultural trends. You will play a key role in shaping public discourse and understanding of the arts scene, articulating nuanced perspectives with clarity and engaging prose. Key Responsibilities

- Attend art exhibitions, performances, and cultural events, both in-person and virtually, to gather material for critique and commentary.
- Write insightful and engaging reviews of exhibitions, artworks, and cultural productions, adhering to publication deadlines.
- Develop longer-form critical essays and analytical pieces on art historical movements, contemporary trends, and cultural issues.
- Conduct interviews with artists, curators, critics, and other cultural figures.
- Maintain a broad and up-to-date knowledge of national and international art and cultural developments.
- Contribute to editorial discussions, offering informed perspectives on content planning and strategy.
- Ensure all published content is well-researched, factually accurate, and stylistically consistent with the publication's voice.




- Build and maintain a network of contacts within the art and cultural communities.
- Promote published work through social media and other relevant platforms.

Requirements

- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Art History, Cultural Studies, Comparative Literature, or a related humanities field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrable experience (minimum 3 years) as an arts critic, cultural journalist, or academic writer with a focus on visual arts and culture.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills, with a strong command of literary style and critical theory.
- A nuanced understanding of art history and contemporary art practices across various media.
- Proven ability to articulate complex ideas in an accessible and engaging manner for a diverse readership.
- Strong research skills and the ability to independently gather information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interviewing and networking.
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and social media engagement strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, managing time between remote responsibilities and in-person event attendance in the Saltillo, Coahuila, MX area.
