About the Role

Our client, a integral innovator in semiconductor technology, is seeking a highly skilled Semiconductor Physics Research Engineer to join our advanced R&D; labs in Hermosillo, Sonora . This role is central to exploring and developing next-generation semiconductor materials and devices, pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency. You will be involved in cutting-edge research, including material growth, device fabrication, characterization, and theoretical modeling. This position requires a deep understanding of solid-state physics and device engineering. We are looking for a scientifically curious individual eager to contribute to transformative technologies. The role is based at our state-of-the-art facility in Hermosillo, Sonora , requiring full-time, on-site engagement.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct theoretical and experimental research on novel semiconductor materials (e.g., Si, Ge, III-V, II-VI, wide-bandgap materials).
- Design, model, and fabricate semiconductor devices, including transistors, diodes, and sensors.
- Perform material characterization using techniques such as Hall effect measurements, CV profiling, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
- Develop and optimize fabrication processes, including lithography, etching, deposition, and annealing.
- Analyze device performance data to understand underlying physical mechanisms and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with fabrication engineers, device modeling teams, and system architects.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in semiconductor physics, materials, and device technologies.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, research proposals, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.




- Contribute to the company's intellectual property portfolio through patent applications.
- Ensure all research activities comply with safety regulations and laboratory protocols.

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with a specialization in semiconductor devices or physics.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industrial R&D; experience in semiconductor research.
- Strong theoretical foundation in solid-state physics, semiconductor device theory, and quantum mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor device fabrication processes and characterization techniques.
- Proficiency in device simulation software (e.g., TCAD tools) and data analysis software.
- Experience with advanced characterization techniques (e.g., TEM, XPS, Raman spectroscopy) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative R&D; team.
- Experience with novel materials like GaN, SiC, or 2D materials is a plus.
