About the Role

The role involves conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the creation of costumes for stage productions and film projects that are critically acclaimed for their aesthetic impact. Key Responsibilities

- Design costumes for theatre and film productions, developing concepts that align with the overall vision of the director and art department.
- Create detailed costume sketches, renderings, and technical drawings for each character.
- Select appropriate fabrics, materials, and embellishments, considering historical accuracy, character, budget, and production requirements.
- Collaborate with costume makers, sewers, and wardrobe departments to ensure the accurate and timely construction of all costumes.
- Conduct research on historical periods, cultural influences, and thematic elements relevant to each production.
- Manage costume budgets effectively, tracking expenditures and sourcing materials efficiently.
- Oversee fittings,



ensuring that costumes fit actors properly and contribute effectively to their performance.
- Coordinate costume maintenance, alterations, and final adjustments throughout the production process.
- Stay current with trends in fashion, costume design, and relevant artistic disciplines.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, Theatre Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional costume design for theatre and/or film.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of costume designs, demonstrating creativity, technical skill, and historical range.
- Proficiency in costume design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and a strong understanding of illustration and rendering techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of garment construction, textiles, pattern making, and historical fashion.
- Excellent research, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with budget management and resource allocation in a production environment.
