About the Role

Our client is seeking an energetic and community-oriented Facilitador/a de Desarrollo Comunitario y Participación Ciudadana for their Zapopan, Jalisco office. This position is dedicated to empowering local communities by fostering active participation, identifying community needs, and supporting the development and implementation of grassroots projects. You will work directly with residents, local leaders, and municipal authorities to build trust, facilitate dialogue, and promote collaborative solutions to community challenges. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, skilled in community organizing, and passionate about empowering citizens to shape their own development. This role is key to strengthening the social fabric in Zapopan.

Key Responsibilities

- Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and focus groups to identify needs and priorities.
- Engage residents and community stakeholders to encourage active participation in local development initiatives.
- Support the formation and strengthening of community committees and local leadership groups.
- Assist communities in developing project proposals and action plans to address identified needs.
- Connect communities with relevant resources, technical assistance, and funding opportunities.
- Monitor the progress of community-led projects and provide ongoing support to participants.
- Promote understanding and collaboration between community members and local government entities.
- Organize awareness campaigns on issues related to community development and citizen participation.




- Document community activities, progress, and outcomes, preparing regular reports.
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and the communities it serves in Jalisco.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community organizing, social work, or development facilitation.
- Proven experience in facilitating group processes and engaging diverse community members.
- Strong understanding of community dynamics, local governance, and participatory development approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with individuals and groups from various socio-economic backgrounds.
- Experience in project support and monitoring is desirable.
- Proficiency in Spanish; knowledge of local indigenous languages is a plus.
- Ability to work adaptable hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to community empowerment and social justice.
