NPI Engineer

Description

MISSION:
Lead the successful execution of Power Generation programs from customer requirements through NPI, production launch, and ongoing delivery, ensuring programs achieve schedule, cost, quality, and customer commitments. Build strong customer confidence while driving cross-functional accountability across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales.

OUTCOMES:

- Manufacturing Process Readiness: Define, document, and validate 100% of required coil and stator manufacturing processes before production release.
- Standard Times & Line Balance: Establish standard times for all critical operations and balance lines to the approved production ramp before each ramp phase.
- Equipment Readiness: Specify, source, and commission all assigned production equipment by approved project launch dates.
- Layout & Material Flow: Validate production layouts, material flow, lifting, and operator requirements before equipment installation.
- Production Documentation: Release work instructions and measurable process standards for 100% of assigned operations before production launch.




- Process & Product Validation: Complete required process validation and IEC 60034 testing before production release, with identified issues resolved.
- Production Ramp: Achieve approved cycle time, throughput, quality, and output targets by the agreed production stabilization date.
- Workforce Readiness: Train and qualify 100% of designated operators on standard work before independent operation.

ROLE COMPETENCIES:

- Medium-Voltage : 5+ years manufacturing medium-voltage rotating electrical machines, including form-wound coil and stator processes.
- Engineering Foundation: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field; able to interpret winding diagrams, slot drawings, insulation BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Insulation & VPI: Strong knowledge of medium/high-voltage insulation systems, VPI processes, stress grading, corona protection, and UL EIS compliance.
- Coil & Winding Expertise: Practical knowledge of form-wound coils, coil pitch, insertion, connections, and winding processes.
- Electrical Testing & Safety: Knowledge of IEC 60034 routine testing and electrical safe-work practices.
- Manufacturing Engineering: Skilled in time standards, line balancing, layouts, material flow, equipment specification, and production ramp-up.
- Problem Solving: Uses data and structured problem solving to resolve manufacturing constraints, variation, and performance gaps.
- Technical Communication: Working technical English with the ability to translate engineering requirements into clear production standards and work cross-functionally.
- Preferred: New plant/line startup, taping or winding automation, MTM/MOST, commercial insulation systems, advanced IEC 60034 knowledge, DraftSight, or SolidWorks.
