Methods and Automation Engineer

Job Objective

Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing methods, production processes, and automation systems at the plastic injection molding plant, in order to improve safety, quality, productivity, capacity, operational efficiency, and business profitability, while ensuring compliance with customer requirements and corporate standards.

Responsabilities

• Identify automation opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase productivity.

- Prepare budgets and technical/economic feasibility studies (ROI) for automation projects
- Develop technical specifications for new equipment and automations
- Design, build, and validate robot arm ends
- Integrate software and hardware solutions that contribute to process automation.
- Coordinate external suppliers for design, manufacture and installation of equipment
- Lead projects for the integration of robots, vision systems, poka-yoke devices, and automatic or semi-automatic equipment
- Participate in the functional validation and release of new automated cells
- Follow up on the first production runs of the automated processes and record the results in the corresponding documents.




- Deliver to the Production department all the information related to the automated processes.
- Participate in reviews of new projects.
- Manage the development and/or acquisition of equipment necessary for new projects and those already in the production phase.
- Participate in engineering changes requested by customers.
- Participate in the resolution of problems reported by customers.
- Participate in conducting internal audits
- Support the Quality personnel in the preparation of the necessary documents for the new project: FMEA, Flow Chart, Control Plans, Control Instructions, Work Instructions, Packaging Instructions.
- Support Sales staff and Project Managers in visits to customers and suppliers.

Experience:

- Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Control, or related field.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in industrial automation within manufacturing environments.
- Verifiable experience in programming and commissioning automated equipment.
- Experience leading automation projects with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in the automotive, metalworking, plastics, electronics, or discrete manufacturing industries (preferred).
- Advanced English
