Summary: Under limited supervision, responsible for essential job functions involving preparation and testing of parts.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following.
· Sample preparation: cutting, polishing, chemical etching and microstructure analysis.
· Hardness testing: includes Vickers microhardness (HV) and Rockwell (HRC).
· Metallography: Case evaluation (measurement of hardened and nitride case depth) · Heat treatment: basic knowledge of carburizing, quenching, tempering and nitriding process · Laboratory equipment: operation of microscopes, hardness tester, micro hardness tester and metallographic preparation equipment.
· Calibrations: equipment verification and calibration follow-up.
· Quality systems: knowledge of IATF *****, CQI-9 and traceability is desirable.
· Safety: handling of chemical reagents and proper waste disposal.
Promotes and practices safety and good order and cleanliness · Laboratory startup: support with installation, equipment validation and procedure implementation.
· Non-conformance: Detect and report any non-conformance to manager.

· Education – High school diploma (Preparatoria) or equivalent · Minimum one year in lab or related position.
· Must understand general procedures for the heat treatment of materials in accordance with customer requirements.
· Must be able to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
· Must have basic knowledge of metallurgy, heat treating, inspection and related subjects.
· May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
· Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines with integrity.
· Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
· Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.
