Building the Future of Bitcoin Education Fully remote | Full time | Candidates must be living and working in HST (Hawaii), AKST/AKDT (Alaska) or PST/PDT (San Francisco)

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the technical team and shape the technology strategy for B4OS.dev and Librería de Satoshi, a Bitcoin and open-source education organization with students across LatAm and Spain.

You’ll manage our engineering team (2 FTE developers plus freelancers), define our IT strategy together with the CEO and CTO, and make sure our platforms and infrastructure run reliably. We need a technical leader who can both code and manage, and who can build and scale a high-performing distributed team.

What you’ll do

- Lead and coordinate a distributed team: project planning, task allocation, code reviews, performance evaluations, hiring and onboarding
- Define technical roadmaps aligned with business goals, choose tools and architectures, and manage the technical budget
- Oversee development in PHP (Moodle plugins), Python (services and tooling), Next.js (wallet) and Astro (web, docs)
- Own our customized Moodle 5.1 (PHP, PostgreSQL): core upgrades, theme, in-house plugins (Nostr login, Lightning via Breez SDK, course automation), Docker test environment, staging, deploy scripts, backup and restore playbooks
- Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Lunanode) and IT vendors
- Oversee our operational tools: n8n, Customer.io, Webflow, Google Workspace
- Administer BTCPay Server for Bitcoin payments
- Set up CI/CD, monitoring, logging and incident response, and keep systems secure, available and scalable

Required

- 4+ years leading engineering teams (FTE and freelancers)
- Strong Next.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript

- Solid knowledge of Proxmox and AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront)
- Understanding of Bitcoin fundamentals and experience with BTCPay Server
- DevOps and CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, Netlify, Vercel), Docker and Linux server operations
- Agile experience (Scrum, Kanban) and strong project management
- English C1 and Spanish B2 (both required), written and spoken
- Living and working in the HST (Hawaii), AKST/AKDT (Alaska) or PST/PDT (San Francisco) time zones

Nice to have

- Astro, n8n, Customer.io or similar, Webflow or headless CMS
- Google Workspace administration
- Lightning Network and Bitcoin Layer 2
- Experience managing remote teams across time zones
- Technical writing in English
- Background in EdTech, fintech or open source
- Authentik or other OIDC providers
- Moodle ecosystem: LTI, SCORM, H5P, Web Services

What we offer

- Fully remote and versátil: we care about outcomes, not hours (Pacific time zones: HST, AKST/AKDT, PST/PDT)
- USD 3,000–4,000/month depending on experience, paid in Bitcoin, USD or local currency.
- Professional development budget for courses, conferences and certifications
- Join as a founding member of the technical leadership team, working directly with the CEO and CTO
- Room to grow your scope and impact as the company scales
- A diverse, mission-driven, Bitcoin-native team

Hiring processApplication review (CV, portfolio, GitHub) → initial interview → technical assessment → technical deep dive → paid trial project (2–4 weeks) → final interview → decision. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds. If you meet most of the requirements, please apply.

Sueldo: $55,000.00 - $73,000.00 al mes
