Position Summary:
Our partner is an established luxury hospitality organization operating internationally recognized hotel and resort brands. As part of a broader technology transformation, the company is building an internal digital engineering organization to take greater ownership of its customer-facing applications, cloud infrastructure, and production operations.
They are looking for a hands-on SRE & DevOps Lead to strengthen the reliability, availability, and operational maturity of their existing cloud environment. This person will oversee production systems, improve infrastructure automation and deployment practices, establish on-call coverage, define availability and recovery targets, and ensure applications can be released and operated safely at scale.
The adecuado candidate understands how distributed applications behave in production, can independently investigate complex incidents, and make sound architectural decisions across cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD, and observability. As the organization grows, they will help transition operational ownership from external partners while building and mentoring an internal SRE and DevOps team.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7 years across SRE, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering, with direct ownership of production reliability.
- Background operating containerized applications and distributed systems in production, including Kubernetes and serverless container platforms. GCP, particularly Cloud Run and GKE,
is preferred; transferable AWS or Azure expertise is acceptable.
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code tools, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, and deployment automation.
- A track record of defining and validating availability, backup, disaster recovery, and recovery objectives such as RTO and RPO.
- Practical knowledge of cloud networking, service communication, security controls, and production troubleshooting.
- Technical leadership through mentoring engineers, establishing operational standards, or transitioning production ownership from external teams.
Skills and Strengths:
- Site Reliability Engineering
- Incident Management
- Google Cloud Platform
- Terraform
- CI/CD Pipeline Engineering
- Observability
- Cloud Run
- Root Cause Analysis
- Service Level Objectives
- Container Operations
- Deployment Automation
- Disaster Recovery
- OpenTelemetry
- Python
- Bash
- Linux
- Cloud Networking
- Identity and Access Management
- Kubernetes
- Google Kubernetes Engine
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Own and continuously improve production reliability, availability, and operational performance across customer-facing digital applications.
- Assess existing cloud infrastructure and operational risks,
prioritizing improvements in reliability, security, performance, and cost.
- Establish on-call coverage, incident escalation procedures, and service reliability targets using SLIs and SLOs.
- Lead production incident response, coordinate service restoration, investigate root causes, and implement preventive improvements.
- Operate and optimize containerized applications across GCP, Cloud Run, and Kubernetes environments, evaluating architectural trade-offs in scalability, performance, cost, and operational complexity.
- Maintain and improve Terraform configurations, Infrastructure as Code standards, and automated cloud provisioning.
- Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment strategies, and rollback procedures, using delivery metrics to measure improvements.
- Improve observability through application metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and actionable alerting.
- Establish and validate backup, restoration, and disaster recovery practices against defined RTO and RPO objectives.
- Automate operational workflows and develop self-service capabilities that reduce Engineering’s dependence on manual infrastructure support.
- Partner with Product Engineering, IT, and Security on production readiness, networking, access controls, and shared infrastructure responsibilities.
- Coordinate the gradual transition of production knowledge, processes, access, and operational ownership from external engineering partners.
- Hire, mentor, and develop an internal SRE and DevOps team, establishing clear technical standards and accountability.
