An Asistente de Bodega (also called Auxiliar de Bodega or Warehouse Assistant) is an operational role focused on the physical handling, organization, and documentation of goods within a warehouse or storage facility. The core purpose is to support the logistics chain by ensuring materials flow efficiently from reception to dispatch while maintaining accurate inventory records and safety standards.

Core Responsibilities

The daily tasks typically revolve around the following areas:

- Reception & Verification: Receiving incoming merchandise, unloading trucks, and checking that quantities and quality match purchase orders and invoices .
- Storage & Organization: Placing products in designated locations (racks, shelves) and keeping the warehouse clean, orderly, and safe .
- Order Picking & Dispatch: Preparing orders for shipment (picking and packing), labeling packages, and loading goods onto delivery vehicles .
- Inventory Control: Participating in cycle counts and physical inventories, and updating stock records to prevent discrepancies .
- System & Documentation: Using computer systems (often ERP like SAP) to register movements (entries, exits, transfers)

Typical Requirements

- Education: Completed secondary education (Enseñanza Media Completa) is the usual minimum; a technical degree in logistics or a related field is often valued or required for more complex roles .
- Experience: Prior experience in a warehouse, retail, or logistics role is frequently requested (often 6 months to 1 year), though some entry-level positions may not require it .
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy is standard; knowledge of inventory software or ERP systems (like SAP) and spreadsheet tools (Excel) is a significant advantage .
