Job Overview
TE Connectivity is seeking a Senior Manager, Manufacturing & Process Development Engineering to lead and scale a regional Assembly Equipment Design/Build and Center of Excellence (CoE) organization within Advanced Manufacturing. This role is accountable for defining the regional strategy and operating model, strengthening internal equipment competitiveness, governing portfolio and resource priorities, and scaling technical standards, reusable platforms and proven manufacturing solutions across sites. Success depends on building capable managers and technical leaders, influencing plant and functional leaders without direct authority, and translating technical opportunities into sustained, measurable business value. The role operates through a globally matrixed organization and partners with Operations, Launch, Product and Program Engineering, Sourcing, Finance, Quality, EHS and other technical organizations, with clear ownership, decision rights and accountability.
Responsibilities
• Define and lead the regional Advanced Manufacturing strategy and multi-year roadmap for Assembly Design/Build and CoE, translating business and technology needs into prioritized capability, platform, standardization and deployment plans.
• Lead and develop a multi-site organization through managers, engineering leaders and technical resources; strengthen leadership capability, succession readiness, engagement and accountability while building an organization that can deliver through others.
• Set the strategic direction and performance expectations for Assembly Design/Build, ensuring internal build capability is competitive against external alternatives in safety, quality, cost, timing, technical performance, risk and total business value.
• Govern the regional portfolio, workload,
capacity and resource allocation across build locations; make transparent trade-offs based on business value, urgency, strategic reuse, risk and available capability, and establish clear commitments and escalation paths.
• Establish and scale common engineering methods, design standards, modular equipment platforms, reuse and lessons learned across sites to improve time-to-market, cost effectiveness, quality, repeatability and regional scalability, including standardized automation, digital and AI-enabled capabilities where they deliver measurable business value.
• Lead the Assembly CoE operating model from opportunity identification and evidence-based assessment through applicability, standardization, deployment, adoption, value validation, replication and sustainment; verify that solutions deliver intended benefits.
• Influence plant and functional leaders without relying on direct authority by understanding stakeholder priorities, addressing resistance, framing recommendations in business terms and securing sustained adoption of standards, RTDs and proven solutions across sites.
• Establish regional performance governance and meaningful KPIs for delivery, cost, productivity, quality, technical readiness, benefit realization, resource utilization, platform reuse and internal-customer value; use results to redirect priorities and drive accountability.
• Govern cross-functional interfaces, decision rights, make/buy considerations and handoffs among Advanced Manufacturing, Launch and Plant organizations, ensuring alignment without blurring functional ownership or creating permanent dependence on CoE resources.
• Represent regional strategy, portfolio results, investment and resource trade-offs, risks and business outcomes in senior and executive reviews; reinforce TE safety, quality, engineering and financial requirements.
Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is a plus.
2. Typically 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, automation or capital-equipment environments,
including substantial people leadership; experience leading managers and/or multi-site organizations is preferred.
3. Broad technical understanding of automated assembly equipment and the capital-equipment lifecycle, sufficient to challenge assumptions, evaluate options and risks, and make sound technical/business decisions while leveraging Principal Engineers, SMEs and local technical experts.
4. Demonstrated experience setting direction and governing an engineering portfolio, including capacity planning, resource prioritization, risk management, investment trade-offs and performance against measurable outcomes.
5. Proven experience with CoE leadership, regional standardization, technology deployment, platform reuse or replication of best practices across multiple operations; able to connect opportunity assessment to adoption and sustained results.
6. Demonstrated influence without direct authority, including examples of gaining adoption from plant or functional leaders who initially disagreed or had competing priorities, and sustaining the resulting change.
7. Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to evaluate cost, timing, capacity, make/buy options, investment trade-offs and total value; able to validate benefits with Finance and operational stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated ability to develop managers and technical leaders through coaching, progressive delegation, broader responsibility and succession planning, building autonomy and capability beyond the leader's personal expertise.
9. Strong strategic leadership, change management, decision-making, prioritization and conflict-resolution skills in a matrixed environment; working knowledge of Lean / TEOA, Six Sigma, structured problem-solving, quality systems and TE Safety Always / Quality Everywhere expectations.
10. Fluent English with strong executive communication and presentation skills; able to synthesize complex technical and business information into clear recommendations, influence senior stakeholders and secure decisions.
11. Ability and willingness to work across sites and functions, including periodic travel as required by the regional scope.
