We are looking for a software developer to update and maintain an existing application written in PHP, MySQL, and C++. This is work on a live, older codebase. The goal is to keep current behavior working while bringing the code up to date so it is easier to run, change, and support.

What you will do
• Read and understand the existing PHP, MySQL, and C++ code before changing it
• Update PHP to a current supported version and replace outdated language features, libraries, and patterns
• Review and update MySQL schemas, queries, and data access so they stay correct and perform well
• Update C++ components so they build with a modern compiler and integrate cleanly with the rest of the system
• Fix bugs, close security gaps, and improve error handling without changing how the application is supposed to work
• Add or improve tests around the parts you change
• Document setup, build steps, and anything a future developer needs to know

What you should bring
• Strong experience with PHP and MySQL on existing applications, including older codebases




• Solid C++ experience, including reading unfamiliar code and updating it safely
• Comfort working across a full stack: web or application code, database, and native components
• Careful habits: small changes, clear commits, and checks that existing behavior still works
• Clear written communication about what you found, what you changed, and what still needs attention

Helpful experience
• Moving older PHP (including PHP 5 or 7) to PHP 8
• MySQL query tuning, migrations, and backups
• Building and debugging C++ on Windows or Linux
• Experience connecting PHP or another web layer to C++ (extensions, command-line tools, or local services)
