Job Overview

Our client is seeking a remote Logistics Operations Controller to oversee day-to-day delivery terminal operations and drive profit margin growth across multiple locations. In this role, you will analyze financial performance, manage fleet maintenance workflows, monitor budget expenditures, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will work closely with terminal managers to track staffing, audit payroll, and report key daily operational metrics directly to business ownership.

Schedule

- Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM EST, with 1 hour break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

- Daily Operations: Run the daily operation: check staffing, truck status, safety inspections, and FedEx service results every morning, and send owners a one-page daily brief by 9:00 AM ET.
- Financial Management & Margin Growth: Build a weekly profit-and-loss report for each terminal and work with each terminal manager to bring payroll, fuel, repairs, and rentals back on budget.
- Fleet Management: Keep every truck's status accurate, push repairs to completion, and approve repair and parts spend within set limits.
- Expense Control: Match every card, fuel, and reimbursement charge to a receipt and an approval; flag anything that does not match.
- Staffing & Payroll Audit: Track hiring and onboarding so each terminal has enough qualified drivers, and audit weekly payroll before it is submitted.
- Compliance Enforcement: Enforce compliance regarding driver files, daily vehicle inspections, dash cameras, and insurance claims,



following up on findings until they are resolved.
- Device Management: Ensure iPads and scanners are assigned, tracked, and recovered.

Requirements

- Experience: 3+ years in operations management, operations finance, or a controller role, ideally in logistics, delivery, or field services.
- Financial Analysis: Ability to build a weekly profit-and-loss report from raw statements and explain every change.
- Computer & Tech Skills: Highly proficient on a computer: fast with Gmail, Google Chat, and web-based business software; types quickly; and learns new systems quickly.
- Spreadsheet Proficiency: Strong in Excel or Google Sheets; comfortable pulling data from web portals and reports.
- Remote Management: Demonstrated experience managing or directing people remotely and holding managers to deadlines.
- Communication: Fluent written and spoken English; writes short, clear updates.
- Work Setup: Reliable home internet, a computer, and a quiet place to work.

Qualifications

- Preferred experience with US payroll, fleet maintenance, insurance claims, or background working with FedEx, Amazon, or other delivery contractors.
