About the Role
Are you passionate about shaping the future of vehicle aesthetics, safety, and advanced mobility technologies? We are seeking a Senior Automotive Lighting Optical Design Engineer to lead the development, simulation, and optimization of next-generation automotive lighting systems.
In this role, you will bridge cutting-edge optical physics with real-world mechanical integration—designing advanced headlamps, tail lamps, light guides, and next-gen projection technologies (ADB/Matrix LEDs) for top global automotive OEMs.
Key Responsibilities
- Optical Surface & Concept Design: Define, model, and refine complex optical components—including reflectors, lenses, collimators, light guides, and micro-optics.
- Photometric Simulation & Analysis: Conduct high-precision optical simulations using SPEOS, LucidShape, or ASAP to evaluate light distribution, efficiency, and aesthetics.
- Regulatory Compliance & Standards: Ensure all optical designs comply strictly with general automotive standards (FMVSS 108, ECE R149, and relevant SAE regulations).
- CAD Integration: Utilize CATIA V5 to integrate optical surface definitions seamlessly into complex mechanical assemblies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with mechanical,
electronics, tooling, and validation teams during technical feasibility reviews and product launches.
- Testing & Lab Correlation: Analyze goniometric measurements and laboratory test results to validate and correlate physical prototypes against simulation models.
- Advanced Technology Innovation: Support projects featuring modern automotive lighting trends, including Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB), matrix LED, and projection systems.
Requirements & Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Optomechatronics, Physics, Mechatronics, Photonics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in optical design and simulation (preferably within the automotive exterior lighting industry).
- Simulation Tools: Demonstrated proficiency in at least one industry-standard optical tool (SPEOS, LucidShape, or ASAP).
- CAD Tools: Solid working knowledge of CATIA V5 for surface modeling and assembly integration.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of FMVSS 108 and ECE lighting regulations.
- Technical Fundamentals: Strong grasp of photometric principles, light distribution, ray tracing, reflection, refraction, and LED optical systems.
- Languages: Advanced / Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
