CIMMYT is seeking a skilled and dynamic Communication Officer to develop and implement communications strategies that effectively promote CIMMYT’s mission and programs. The Communication Officer will be responsible for creating compelling content, managing media relations, and enhancing the visibility of CIMMYT’s work through various communication channels. This role requires a creative professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Develop and execute communication plans and strategies to support organizational goals.
- Create, edit, and disseminate high-quality content for newsletters, websites, social media, press releases, and other platforms.
- Manage CIMMYT’s social media channels and online presence to increase reach and engagement.
- Coordinate media relations, including press briefings and interviews.




- Support internal communications to ensure effective information flow within the organization.
- Collaborate with program teams to highlight key achievements and success stories.
- Monitor and evaluate communication activities and prepare reports.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- Proven experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in managing social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience in the agriculture, research, or development sector is an advantage.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
