General Summary

Qualcomm IT seeks a Kubernetes generalist who canassistwith theconstruction, deployment,management, automation,andtroubleshooting ofhigh performancebare-metalon-premand cloud-basedmulti-tenantKubernetes clustersusing Rancher.Kubernetes distributions in use areRKE2(on-prem) andGKE,EKS,AKS(cloud).Day to daytasks also includemonitoringperformance and availability of all Kubernetes clusters(including high performance GPU acceleration), as well asdeveloping and deployingplatform automation scripts and software.Candidates willjoin a mature and experienced team of Kubernetes platform administratorswith a wide range of skill levels.Candidateswill havemany opportunities forgrowththrough project work andcoaching from mentors.Examples ofpossibleproject work includeimplementation of self-healing system automation;testing,validation, and deploymentof new Kubernetes versions; transformation of existing platform automation to make use of new Kubernetes functionality; testing and integration ofnewhigh performancebare-metal compute platforms; implementation andtroubleshooting of novel Kubernetes multi-tenancy patterns such asvcluster; migration of Gatekeeper OPA policies to Validating Admission Policy.

Baseline requirements

- Comfortable using anddeveloping onLinux as a primary OS, especially Ubuntu.
- 2+yearsKubernetesadministrationexperience.
- AdvancedproficiencyinKustomizeor Helm (preferably both).
- Intermediateknowledge ofKubernetes networking internals (notablyCilium).
- Direct experience deploying andmaintainingenterprise Kubernetes clusters.
- AdvancedproficiencywithDocker+ContainerDand Linux containerinternals.
- Advancedproficiencywith git andGithub.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture and troubleshooting.




- Intermediateproficiencywith Pythonor Go.
- Intermediateproficiencywith bash scripting.
- Comfortable with Agile project management in JIRA.

Beneficialadditionalexperience

- RecentCKAD andCKA certifications.CKS certification is a plus.
- Bare-metal Kubernetes management with Rancher,RKE2, and Cilium.
- Cloud Kubernetes management (GKE, EKSandAKS).
- Datadog log and metricscollection;dashboarding.
- Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Gatekeeper OPA.
- Kubernetes Ingress/Gateway API implementations.
- Deployment and management ofPortworxandMetalLB.
- Creating CI/CD workflows usingGithubActions.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated workloads in Kubernetes.

Minimum Qualifications

- 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- OR
- 5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
