Junior Closures Engineer
Location: Mexico City or Toluca, State of Mexico (Hybrid: Flex work from home + collaborative office/lab days)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: 0–3 Years
? Drive the Future of Automotive Design
Ever paid attention to the crisp thud of a luxury car door closing? Or the effortless movement of an automated power liftgate? That’s the magic of Closures Engineering—where precision mechanisms meet sleek automotive aesthetics.
We are looking for a passionate, dynamic Junior Closures Engineer to join our fast-paced Engineering team. Whether you are a fresh graduate with hands-on university team experience (Formula SAE, Baja) or an early-career engineer looking to level up, this role gives you real ownership over vehicle doors, hoods, tailgates, latches, and sealing systems for next-generation mobility.
⚡ What You’ll Do
- Design & Innovate: Create and refine CAD models for vehicle closures (doors, hood, tailgate, hinges, latches, weatherstripping, and actuators).
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Body-in-White (BiW), Exterior Trim, Sealing, and Manufacturing teams to resolve fit-and-finish and clearance challenges.
- Simulate & Analyze: Perform basic structural, kinematic, and clearance investigations (GD&T;, tolerance stacks) to ensure zero interference during operation.
- Prototype & Validate:
Participate in physical vehicle testing, reviewing prototypes, analyzing root causes for sealing or latching issues, and pushing for rapid design iterations.
- Drive Quality: Leverage Problem-Solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why) to fix real-world assembly and durability challenges.
? What We Are Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Materials Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in automotive design, mechanical design internships, or engineering student competitions (Formula SAE, Baja, Hyperloop, etc.).
- CAD Fundamentals: Hands-on exposure to 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, NX, or SolidWorks).
- Engineering Principles: Understanding of sheet metal forming, injection molding, kinematics, or basic material strength.
- Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Mindset: Curiosity, self-drive, and a desire to see your designs on the road.
? Bonus Points If You Have
- Exposure to GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes (stamping, welding, bonding, assembly).
- Familiarity with door mechanisms, latches, motors, or weather seals.
