Role Description The Visiting Social Work Professor in Mexico for Spring 2028 will serve in an internship role, teaching and mentoring students in social work courses and field experiences. This on-site position, based in Morelos, Mexico, involves planning and delivering course content, leading class discussions, supervising student projects, and coordinating with local agencies or organizations to support community-based learning. The professor will provide academic advising, facilitate reflection on cross-cultural practice,



and help students integrate social work theory with practice in local contexts.

Additional responsibilities may include participating in program meetings, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting Augsburg’s educational mission in an international setting.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Social Work and Medical Social Work, with demonstrated ability to integrate theory and practice in diverse settings.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including the ability to teach, present, and facilitate dialogue across cultures and languages.
- Candidates should possess skills in Case Management and Social Services, including experience collaborating with community organizations or service providers.
- Relevant qualifications include a master’s degree or doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field, and prior teaching or field instruction experience.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in international or cross-cultural social work, proficiency in Spanish, and a commitment to inclusive, anti-oppressive pedagogy.
