Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to act as a subject-matter expert for network infrastructure services, supporting their secure, resilient, and reliable operation while driving continuous improvement
The role holder will take technical ownership of assigned infrastructure components and services, reduce operational risk and technical debt, improve resilience, and enable predictable, low-risk delivery across environments
Working with Infrastructure Engineering, IT Service Owners, Architecture, Risk, vendors and other stakeholders, the role holder will ensure that services meet their capacity, performance, availability, security, and resilience requirements
The role requires the ability to learn and apply unfamiliar technologies quickly. No specific technology, programming language or vendor platform should be a barrier to achieving the required outcome

The role holder is expected to:
• Operate with a high degree of technical autonomy within agreed policies, controls, and governance




• Own the reliability, lifecycle and continuous improvement of assigned infrastructure components and services
• Make sound technical decisions and clearly communicate their impact, risks, and dependencies
• Lead technical activities and incident reviews through influence, without relying on formal line-management authority
• Provide specialist guidance to colleagues and partner teams
• Identify and manage risks proactively rather than waiting for incidents, assignments, or escalations
• Influence architecture, engineering, and operational decisions beyond the immediate team
• Mentor colleagues and promote the reuse of effective tools, patterns, and practices
• Remain accountable for the quality and long-term sustainability of solutions delivered
