Field Deployment Engineer
? Remote · Latin America (US Central Time) · Full-time
About the company A San Francisco-based, venture-backed deep-tech startup building the AI design engine behind power electronics. Solar inverters, EV chargers and satellites all depend on transformers and inductors, and those components are still complex, slow and expensive to design. Their software lets engineers design and simulate custom magnetics before they build a single prototype.
Founded by a PhD in power electronics and venture-backed since 2019, the company serves around 100 customers across the US and Europe, from space agencies to big tech companies, including NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Cambridge GaN Devices. Their designs are already in orbit.
The role
As a Field Deployment Engineer, you will be the technical point of contact for engineering teams evaluating the product. You will work out what problem they're trying to solve, map their design workflow and show them how the technology solves it. This is consultative, engineer-to-engineer work: you win by understanding the problem better than anyone else, not by hard selling.
While the founder works directly with enterprise accounts, this role focuses on fast-growing hardware companies (under 200 people) building power supplies, converters and custom magnetics across the US and Canada.
What you'll do
- Run discovery calls with engineering teams to understand their requirements, constraints and current design workflow
- Turn inbound interest and a curated list of target accounts into qualified meetings
- Design and present tailored transformer and inductor solutions using the platform
- Own the technical win: demos,
design walkthroughs and answering deep technical questions
- Take opportunities from first conversation to proposal and close, and support customers through implementation
- Bring what you hear from customers back to the founder and product team to shape the roadmap
- Represent the company at industry conferences and events
Who you are
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a closely related field, with strong fundamentals in electromagnetics and circuits
- 1-3 years of professional engineering experience
- Fluent, professional English, spoken and written
- Clear communicator who can explain complex technical ideas simply
- Empathy and curiosity: you enjoy understanding other engineers' problems and helping solve them
- Self-starter who is comfortable with ownership in a small, fast-moving team
Nice to have: exposure to power electronics, magnetics or transformer design (SMPS, converter topologies, core/winding losses);
experience with simulation or EDA tools (SPICE, FEM, ANSYS Maxwell or similar); customer-facing experience in applications, field applications or sales engineering.
Location
This is a remote role from anywhere in Latin America, working US Central Time hours.
Onboarding in San Francisco and travel to the US every 4-5 months for team time and conferences.
A valid US visa is required.
Why join
- A customer-facing role that stays deeply technical: you solve real engineering problems every day
- Work directly with the founder from day one
- A deep-tech product with real traction: around 100 customers and hardware in space
- A science-first culture with clear growth paths into technical sales, solutions or customer leadership
If this role aligns with your background and interests, they'd love to hear from you.
