We are seeking a Senior Workload Automation Support Engineer to support and optimize large-scale enterprise batch processing environments in financial services, ensuring business-critical workloads execute reliably and within SLA commitments. This role combines production support, workload automation engineering, batch performance optimization, root cause analysis, and operational automation. The successful candidate will act as a senior technical contributor, driving resolution of complex incidents, mentoring team members, and improving platform reliability through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

The team's primary platform is HCL Workload Automation (HWA). Candidates with hands-on experience on any enterprise scheduler are the primary target and will ramp up on HWA specifically. Linux/Unix System Administrators with strong batch/production support backgrounds but no scheduler experience are also encouraged to apply — see below.

Responsibilities

Your Impact

- Monitor and support enterprise batch processing environments (HCL Workload Automation)
- Diagnose and resolve complex batch job failures, application abends, scheduling issues, dependency failures, and file-transfer incidents
- Perform root cause analysis of recurring production issues and implement long-term corrective actions
- Design, maintain, and optimize job streams, calendars, dependencies, resource pools, and workload schedules to meet SLA commitments
- Develop and enhance automation capabilities, including self-healing processes, automated recovery actions, and operational tooling
- Coordinate production incidents with application, database, infrastructure, and support teams during business-critical events
- Support workload automation environments, including agents, scheduling components,

and platform maintenance activities
- Mentor L1 and L2 support analysts through incident reviews, technical guidance, runbook improvements, and operational best practices
- Drive service improvements through trend analysis, problem management, operational reporting, and process optimization
- Author and maintain runbooks, recovery procedures, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

- Scheduling/Workload Automation: Hands-on experience with an enterprise scheduling platform — HCL Workload Automation (HWA), IBM TWS, Maestro, Control-M, AutoSys, Dollar Universe, CA7, or equivalent — including job definition, job streams, dependencies, resources, and restart/rerun of abended jobs. Alternatively: Linux/Unix System Administrators with strong enterprise batch/production support experience (no scheduler tool required) who are motivated to ramp up into scheduler administration are also welcome to apply.
- Scripting: Unix shell/bash scripting for job wrappers, pre/post commands, and FTP/SFTP file-transfer steps
- Operating Systems: Linux (RHEL) and Unix (AIX); Windows Server for agent-managed jobs; intermediate OS troubleshooting (logs, processes, cron, perf, disk/filesystem, networking)
- Databases: SQL for job-status / plan-table queries against DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server backends
- Monitoring/Alerting: Job-failure detection and notification within SLA; alerting and dashboard monitoring
- ITIL/Processes: ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management; ServiceNow or BMC Helix ITSM ticketing, SLA tracking, CMDB updates
- Runbook & Triage: Runbook authoring, execution and shift handover; L1/L2 triage of abends (JCL/script errors, file-not-found, dependency misses, resource contention) — scheduler-specific triage will be developed during ramp-up for candidates entering via the SysAdmin path
- Batch Tuning: Critical-path analysis, resource-pool design, job-stream parallelization, deadline/confidence factor configuration — scheduler-specific; part of ramp-up for the SysAdmin path
- Self-Healing Design: Recovery-table design, auto-rerun policies,

pre-flight/post-recovery validation — scheduler-specific; part of ramp-up for the SysAdmin path
- Automation: Job-failure self-healing / auto-rerun policies; Ansible for agent config and patch rollout

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience specifically with HCL Workload Automation (HWA), IBM TWS, or Maestro, including Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) or equivalent scheduler console
- Experience with workload automation platform administration — master/domain manager, agent fleet, user/security, upgrade/patch coordination
- Experience implementing automated recovery workflows, self-healing mechanisms, retry strategies
- Knowledge of enterprise monitoring and alerting solutions with SLA-based incident detection
- Experience leading major incident investigations and coordinating cross-functional recovery efforts
- Previous mentoring, coaching, or technical leadership responsibilities

Set Yourself Apart With

- Python or Perl for log parsing and job-automation utilities
- Apache Airflow exposure
- Kafka message-driven job triggering; REST API job submission
- Docker/Kubernetes basics for agent-on-container and cloud-native batch
- Azure Data Factory / Databricks job orchestration familiarity
- ELK/Splunk/Datadog integration for batch log analytics
- Platform modernization: HWA containerized agents, agent-on-Kubernetes, cloud-native batch refactoring

This is a long-term, full-time (Indefinite) contract with a hybrid work model. The role requires availability to work from our offices in Polanco, Mexico City, twice a week, as well as participation in a rotating weekend on-call schedule.
