Help replace eye injections with eye drops.

Diabetic macular edema and age-related macular degeneration are among the leading causes of vision loss worldwide. In Mexico, the high prevalence of diabetes makes diabetic retinal disease a particularly significant public health challenge. Today, many patients rely on repeated injections directly into the eye, often as frequently as every one to two months, for years.

This requires access to a retina specialist, a specialized clinic, and a treatment schedule that many patients struggle to maintain. As a result, too many people remain undertreated or receive no treatment at all.

At VIAN Therapeutics, we’re developing VIAN-001, a first-in-class cyclic peptide administered as an eye drop, with the goal of moving retinal treatment out of the injection room and into patients’ hands. If we succeed, we could fundamentally change how retinal diseases are treated, not just in Mexico, but around the world.

We’re looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help make this vision a reality.

VIAN Therapeutics is a US-based biotechnology company preparing to advance its clinical development programs in Mexico. We need an entrepreneurial leader to build and lead our operations. This is not a role focused on maintaining an established organization. It’s an opportunity to build one.

As VIAN’s senior executive in Mexico, you will lead the transition from translational development into clinical execution: establishing partnerships with clinical sites and investigators, driving regulatory strategy with COFEPRIS, coordinating manufacturing and clinical supply, and building the operational capabilities needed to advance our programs.

The clinical milestones you help achieve will be critical to VIAN’s next financing and its path toward international clinical development. You will work directly with the scientific founder and the Board, with significant responsibility and the opportunity to shape the company’s future.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have helped build or scale early-stage biotechnology or pharmaceutical operations in Mexico and understand both the scientific and business challenges of advancing a therapeutic program into clinical development.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead execution of VIAN’s development programs in Mexico, coordinating clinical sites, investigators, CROs/CDMOs, consultants, timelines, and budgets.
- Lead regulatory and clinical strategy in Mexico, including COFEPRIS interactions, clinical trial approvals, protocol implementation, trial execution, and coordination with government institutions.
- Coordinate translational development activities, including CMC, preclinical/toxicology, manufacturing and clinical supply.
- Build VIAN’s operational capabilities and strategic network in Mexico, including legal/administrative needs and relationships with government, academic, clinical, and industry partners.
- Identify and pursue strategic opportunities, including non-dilutive funding, partnerships, licensing, and business development.
- Report development plans, milestones, budgets,

and key risks to VIAN leadership and the Board.

Adecuado Background

- Significant experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical development, ideally with direct responsibility for advancing therapeutic programs in Mexico.
- Strong knowledge of COFEPRIS, clinical development, and the Mexican regulatory environment.
- Experience managing clinical sites, CROs/CDMOs, consultants, and multidisciplinary development programs, with working knowledge of CMC and preclinical/toxicology.
- Experience building or operating a biotech/pharma organization in Mexico, including corporate, contracting, and operational matters.
- Experience in licensing, partnerships, government programs, non-dilutive funding, or business development is highly valued.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, with an entrepreneurial, hands-on approach suited to an early-stage biotechnology company.

What We Offer

- A mission that matters: Help transform retinal disease treatment by developing an alternative to repeated injections into the eye.
- An opportunity to build: Lead VIAN’s operations in Mexico and help advance a first-in-class therapeutic program into clinical trials.
- Executive leadership: Work directly with the scientific founder and Board, with substantial autonomy and influence over the company’s development strategy.
- Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and responsibilities, reflecting the company’s early-stage structure.
- Growth opportunity: The potential to take on broader executive leadership responsibilities as VIAN advances through clinical development and future financing milestones.

Interested in helping us build the future of retinal care? We’d love to hear from you.
