What will you do?

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Obesity Research at Tecnológico de Monterrey, your main challenge will be to integrate single-nucleus RNA sequencing data from skeletal muscle with genetic information and metabolic traits from the Mexican population to identify the cellular and genetic factors that influence muscle mass and metabolic health.

The project aims to better understand individual differences in muscle mass and the muscle's capacity for regeneration and adaptation, as well as their relationship with conditions such as sarcopenia, sarcopenic obesity, frailty, and insulin resistance.



Special attention will be given to populations that have been underrepresented in genomic research.

How will you do it?

Your main responsibilities will include:

•
Identify gene activity programs specific to different cell types in human skeletal muscle, both during regeneration and under normal homeostatic conditions.

•
Generate detailed maps of gene activity in skeletal muscle using single-nucleus RNA sequencing techniques and samples from Mexican participants with diverse metabolic characteristics.

•
Integrate cellular gene activity results with large-scale genetic information to investigate factors associated with muscle mass-related traits.

•
Analyze genomic, molecular, and metabolic data from Mexican cohorts, including oriGen and MetSx, to better understand the relationships between genetic variation, muscle cell composition, and metabolic health.
