About HomeHopHomeHop is the largest short-term rental property manager in Northeast Ohio, with 100+ homes across Ohio. For the past three years we’ve grown more than 50% every year. In the last two years our team has gone from about 3 people to 23, and we’re still growing fast.
We design and run homes that guests remember. Our team is young and tech-forward. We use systems, automation and AI so we spend less time on busywork and more time on the work that matters. For this role, that means design.
Our culture is built on:
- Ownership over hierarchy
- Questioning processes instead of blindly following them
- High standards with low ego
- Always raising the bar, especially on design
Why This Role Is DifferentMost interior design jobs give you one style guide and a lot of beige. This one doesn’t.
Our homes compete for bookings, so design isn’t decoration for us. It drives guest reviews, bookings and our clients’ returns. A great accent wall or a well-designed bunk room can change how a property performs, and you’ll see the results.
On any given week you might be working on:
- Custom bunk rooms that kids (and adults) fight over
- Accent walls, bold paint and statement furniture that make a listing stand out
- Pickleball courts with custom court colors and designs
- Above-ground pools with wraparound decks that turn a backyard into a destination
- Boutique hotel-style builds that push what a short-term rental can be
- Full-home design from empty shell to photo-ready listing
You’ll be creative, you’ll see your work built, and you’ll see how it performs.
Our Buy2Booked ProgramBuy2Booked is one of the most exciting parts of HomeHop. We help people find, buy and design their own short-term rentals, from picking the property to the first booking.
As our designer, you’ll help turn each client’s investment into something special. That means:
- Working with clients who are excited about their property and open to bold ideas
- Designing homes from scratch, not just refreshing them
- Building a portfolio of varied, high-impact projects you’ll be proud to show
Our clients trust us with their biggest investments. That gives you a lot of creative room and a lot of responsibility.
The TeamYou’ll join our design team and work closely with:
- Our Head of Design (U.S.-based), who sets the creative direction and will help you grow
- Our Design Project Manager (Mexico-based), who keeps projects on schedule and coordinates vendors and installs
They plan the timelines. Your job is the design.
What You’ll Do
- Create design concepts, mood boards and full-home design plans for new properties
- Pick furniture, decor, paint colors, lighting and finishes that fit the budget and look great on camera
- Design standout features like bunk rooms, accent walls, outdoor spaces and amenities
- Work with Buy2Booked clients to bring their vision to life
- Prepare shopping lists, layouts and specs for install teams
- Refresh and upgrade existing properties to keep our portfolio competitive
- Help build our design standards, playbooks and processes as we grow
- Use AI and modern design tools to work faster and explore more ideas
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of interior design experience (residential, hospitality or short-term rental preferred)
- A creative, bold eye,
with a portfolio that shows personality and not just safe choices
- Comfort designing within a budget
- Strong spatial planning skills, especially for maximizing sleeping capacity and function
- Strong written and spoken English
- Curiosity and excitement about short-term rentals and hospitality design
- A self-starter who can work independently, take feedback well and keep projects moving
- Interest in using AI in your work. Our team is focused on using AI to work more efficiently, and we want you to help find new ways to use it in design.
Working Style
- Full-time contract, Monday through Friday
- Primarily U.S. East Coast hours, roughly 45 hours per week
- Fully remote
- High ownership, low micromanagement
Compensation
- $25,000 USD per year
- $500 technology home office stipend
- Independent contractor position (not an employee role)
- Full-time, long-term engagement
- Mexico-based candidates preferred for time zone alignment and close work with our Design PM
Why Join HomeHop
- Direct line to leadership. You’ll work directly with our leadership team, and your ideas will be heard and acted on.
- Real growth. We’ve grown from about 3 people to 23 in the last two years, and we’re still growing fast. As the team grows, so does the room for you to grow.
- Your work gets built. Your designs become real homes that thousands of guests stay in.
- Your work gets measured. Reviews and bookings show you the impact of your design choices.
- Variety. Bunk rooms one week, a pickleball court the next, a pool deck after that.
- A team that cares about design. Design is central to how we compete.
If you want a role where you can be creative, try bold ideas and help a fast-growing company keep improving its design, we’d love to see your portfolio.
