We are Hiring: Remote Database Reliability Engineer - YugabyteDB/Cassandra || LATAM

We are looking for a Senior Database Reliability Engineer with deep expertise in either YugabyteDB or Apache Cassandra and a strong automation mindset to manage, optimize, and automate production database clusters supporting general SaaS platform. The role focuses on database reliability, performance tuning, high availability, incident management, and lifecycle automation, with opportunities to develop expertise in both technologies.

Location: Remote (Mexico /Argentina)
Job Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities
• Manage database availability, performance, scaling, and lifecycle operations.
• Handle backups, recovery, replication, high availability, and major-version upgrades.
• Automate database operations using Python and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Build monitoring, alerting, and self-service database provisioning workflows.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, lead root-cause analyses, and improve reliability.




• Collaborate with engineering teams on data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Mentor team members and participate in the on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of production experience with YugabyteDB or Apache Cassandra.
• Strong knowledge of distributed database internals, replication, partitioning, compaction, and performance tuning.
• Experience with backup and recovery, capacity planning, upgrades, and incident management.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and support production on-call operations.

Preferred Skills
• Kubernetes, Linux, PostgreSQL, and public cloud (especially OCI).
• Python automation, CI/CD, GitOps, Ansible, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• YugabyteDB YSQL/YCQL, Cassandra data modeling, and zero-downtime upgrades.
