We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead painting and assembly operations at our second manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for safe operations, consistent quality, production efficiency and the timely completion of finished products according to customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily painting and assembly operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, approved process parameters, standard work and customer requirements.
- Plan staffing, line capacity and shift coverage to meet demand while controlling labor costs, overtime and resource utilization.
- Monitor and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), first-time quality (FTQ), scrap, rework, downtime, cycle times, labor productivity and schedule attainment.
- Ensure finished products meet appearance, assembly, traceability, handling and packaging requirements, in coordination with Quality and Logistics.
- Work with Engineering, Quality and Maintenance to resolve process problems, control painting defects, reduce equipment losses and implement corrective actions.
- Develop supervisors and line leaders through coaching, performance reviews, training and operator qualification; coordinate attendance and workforce improvement plans with HR.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including line balancing, 5S, SMED, Andon and error prevention, to improve flow, quality and productivity.
- Lead production readiness for new lines and products, including layouts, material flow, capacity studies,
Run at Rate activities and controlled process changes.
- Support internal and customer audits, maintain production compliance with applicable quality requirements and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Partner with EHS to reinforce safe work practices, chemical handling, housekeeping and environmental controls in painting and assembly areas.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. A postgraduate degree is a plus.
- At least 8 years of manufacturing experience, including 4 years as a Production Manager, Head of Production or an equivalent leadership role.
- Proven experience managing automotive painting and assembly operations, preferably involving plastic components.
- Experience leading production teams of more than 50 employees, including supervisors and line leaders.
- Strong understanding of painting process controls, appearance quality, assembly operations, line balancing, cycle times and material flow.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, automotive Core Tools, CQI-12 and customer-specific manufacturing requirements.
- Practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing tools, including 5S, SMED, Andon, Poka Yoke and Value Stream Mapping.
- A record of measurable improvements in OEE, FTQ, scrap, rework, downtime or labor productivity.
- Strong analytical skills, structured problem-solving, sound decision-making under pressure and effective communication across organizational levels.
