How will you fit in the big picture?
You will help protect the continuity, compliance, and cost effectiveness of Hershey's U.S. import operations. This role combines day-to-day Importer of Record activities with invoice governance and payment controls for international supply chain providers. You will partner with internal teams, customs brokers, carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors to move goods efficiently while meeting U.S. Customs and Participating Government Agency requirements.
What will you do?
Manage and control payments to ocean carriers, transportation providers, customs brokers, and other service providers; verify charges against negotiated rates, contracts, credit terms, and services received.
Validate timely, accurate invoice receipt and approval through VIM (SAP S/4) and CASS, maintain payment controls and reporting, and provide visibility to logistics spend, invoice status, payments, and variances.
Lead U.S. import execution across air,
ocean, truck, and rail, including equipment, spare parts, and MRO materials; coordinate documentation, customs release, duty and tax scheduling, delivery, and proof of delivery.
Prepare and submit required information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies; monitor cargo status and respond quickly to holds, examinations, or border delays.
Work closely with brokers, forwarders, carriers, suppliers, Warehousing, S&OP;, Quality Assurance, and other partners to obtain complete information and communicate shipment status.
Own KPIs, vendor reviews, corrective actions, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance, visibility, speed, and cost efficiency.
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in international logistics, U.S. imports, trade compliance, supply chain, or a similar function. Experience with invoice processing or payment governance, customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, shipment documentation, and time-critical operations is required. SAP or another ERP, Microsoft Office, and data-reporting tools such as Power BI are preferred; SAP GTS experience is an advantage.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
Skills: Working knowledge of U.S. import and customs processes, shipment lifecycle, tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and Free Trade Agreements. Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization, communication, relationship-management, and problem-solving skills. English and Spanish proficiency and schedule flexibility are preferred for the integral scope of the role.
