Riverview Animal Hospital in Durango, Colorado is a full-service companion small animal pet hospital, specializing in high risk anesthesia, ultrasonography, Echocardiography, rehab, endoscopy, orthopedic and critical urgent care. We are a unique clinic pulling in clients/patients from a 3 hour radius for advanced veterinary care and urgent care. Our veterinary services, team, equipment and facilities are designed to provide preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care for all stages of life for dogs and cats. Our veterinarian team is led by Dr. Shannon Mazur, with over 15 years of experience in emergency, critical, preventative, and surgical care. We are able to work very closely together to provide a team-based collaborative and consistent approach that results in the highest quality care for every one of our valued patients. Riverview Animal Hospital is a team oriented, positive, cheerful and progressive practice with highly skilled and trained staff all working with the same goal in mind – to help pets live their best life. Job Summary
In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Emergency Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with a Managing Doctor and supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients.
Shifts are versátil but could include daytime UC 8-5, evening 2-9pm and two weekends per month.
Job Responsibilities
Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
Works independently
Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
Skills and Basic Qualifications
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
Makes decisions confidently and efficiently.
Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth.
1 year minimum experience
Competitive Compensation Package:
Pro-sal with $150K base for full time and negotiated salary for part time. Sign on and relocation bonus.
