Overview

The Senior Engineer spends most of their time on moderate to high complexity technical tasks and works with autonomy.They have solid general knowledge within their engineering discipline and have a proven record of successful delivery on many projects of moderate complexity. They may occasionally be asked to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to junior engineers or technicians working on the same projects or products.They are generally responsible for all aspects of their assigned functional area and will often have responsibility for multiple projects or areas of the business.Senior Engineers should have a proven track record of delivering results and meeting schedules.

Responsibilities

- Lead the identification, development, and implementation of manufacturing process improvements through the application of sound engineering principles, automation technologies, and lean manufacturing practices.
- Own and drive automation, capital equipment, and process improvement initiatives from concept development through implementation, validation, and production release.
- Collaborate with management to define project objectives, scope, schedules, budgets, and success metrics while maintaining full accountability for project execution and results.
- Analyze complex manufacturing challenges and develop innovative technical solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and operational efficiency.
- Design, evaluate, and optimize assembly processes, equipment, tooling, and manufacturing systems to support current and future business requirements.
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate efforts among Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering to ensure successful project completion.
- Develop equipment specifications,



statements of work, and technical requirements for new automation systems and manufacturing equipment.
- Manage CAPEX, New Product Development (NPD), automation, and continuous improvement projects in accordance with established project management and engineering change procedures.
- Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process issues, implementing corrective actions, and driving sustainable improvements.
- Work directly with equipment suppliers, system integrators, and contractors to develop, install, commission, and validate new manufacturing equipment through validation process (IPDMS).
- Establish process performance metrics and monitor system effectiveness to ensure achievement of operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases.
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including equipment specifications, validation protocols, risk assessments, work instructions, and project reports.
- Support risk reduction initiatives through automation, poka-yoke implementation, machine vision systems, and process controls.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
- 7+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital equipment,



automation, or process improvement projects from concept through implementation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and execution.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to all levels of the organization.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, industrial networks, machine vision systems, robotics, and automated assembly equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, sensors, servo systems, pneumatic systems, and motion control applications.
- Experience leading automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including equipment connectivity and manufacturing data collection systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement experience.
- Strong knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), process capability analysis, statistical methods, and root cause analysis.
- Project Management certification or formal project management training is preferred.
- Experience with equipment validation protocols, process qualification, FMEA, risk assessments, and production readiness activities.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
- Experience working with suppliers, machine builders, and external engineering resources to deliver turnkey automation solutions.
