Director of Finance Position Overview

Farahi Law Firm is an award-winning personal injury firm dedicated to fighting for the injured and delivering exceptional legal representation. We are a fast-growing, client-centric team that values aggressive advocacy, innovation, and community impact. The Director of Finance serves as the chief financial strategist and steward at Farahi Law Firm. This role is responsible for capital planning, profitability analysis, financial compliance, cash flow management, and financial reporting across all pre-litigation and litigation practice groups.

Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A;)

Develop annual operating budgets, cash flow forecasts, and long-range financial plans tailored to personal injury contingent-fee business models.

Capital & Liquidity Management

Manage the firm's line of credit (LOC), litigation funding lines, and case cost advances.

Oversee trust accounting (IOLTA) compliance in accordance with State Bar of California regulations.

Revenue Cycle & Lien Management

Oversee medical lien negotiation tracking, settlement disbursement timelines, and reductions tracking to accelerate capital recovery.

Financial Reporting & Systems

Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.

Maintain integrations between accounting software (e.g., Quick Books or Sage) and legal CRM systems.

Tax & Audit Compliance

Partner with external CPA firms on tax planning, annual filings, and regulatory compliance audit oversight.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.





10+ years of progressive experience in the relevant function, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.

Candidates should currently hold, or have previously held, a Director-level role or an equivalent senior leadership position with comparable scope and accountability.

Demonstrated experience leading managers and/or multi-layered teams, owning departmental strategy, establishing performance standards, and being accountable for department-level business outcomes.

Proven responsibility for strategy, people leadership, operational performance, and department-level results.

Advanced Excel modeling skills and proficiency with Quick Books or Sage.

Experience integrating case management software (e.g., Filevine, Litify, or Smart Advocate) with financial systems.

Experience with IOLTA compliance.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Average Settlement Realization Days: Days from case settlement to funds collection and distribution.

Operating Cash Runway & Reserve Ratio: Maintenance of target cash liquidity reserves for contingency operations.

Case Cost Recovery Rate: Percentage and speed of advanced case expenses recouped upon case resolution.

Budget vs. Vigente Variance: Keeping operational expenses within ±3–5% of approved budget forecasts. Leadership Competencies

Financial Acumen: Deep mastery of contingency accounting, IOLTA rules, and law firm unit economics.

Strategic Risk Management: Ability to balance firm growth investments with capital safety.

Analytical Precision: Ability to transform complex financial data into actionable insights for executive decision-making. #J-18808-Ljbffr
