Senior Electrical DesignerJoin us as a Senior Electrical Designer where you will lead the development of innovative electrical and automation solutions for advanced manufacturing equipment.
This role offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional engineering teams, influence design standards, and drive projects from concept through commissioning while contributing to the next generation of automated machines and production systems.What will you do?
Lead the design of electrical and communication systems for automated machinery and high-volume manufacturing processesDevelop detailed electrical engineering deliverables including schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, and bills of materialsApply expertise in automation technologies including robotics, servo systems, vision systems, conveyors, pick-and-place applications, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial control systemsPerform electrical calculations to properly size electrical devices, conductors, protection systems, and power distribution componentsConduct simulations, testing, and design validation activities to optimize system performance prior to procurement and installationCreate and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, engineering reports, operating manuals, and installation requirementsReview supplier drawings and technical submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and dimensional requirementsSupport sourcing and procurement activities by selecting electrical components and evaluating technical solutions from suppliersCollaborate with automation engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment is assembled and commissioned according to design intent and quality requirementsDrive the development and standardization of ECAD libraries, electrical design practices, and engineering standards across the organizationParticipate in technical design reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirementsSupport equipment installation, startup, and commissioning activities to achieve safety, quality, reliability, and production performance objectivesProvide technical support to manufacturing sites and project stakeholders following equipment deploymentPartner with engineering teams across North America and general locations to develop innovative solutions and continuous improvements for automated equipment and manufacturing processesWhat are the key skills we are looking for?
Electrical Design — advanced level; developing complex electrical systems for automated machinery and industrial manufacturing applicationsIndustrial Automation — advanced level; integrating robotics, motion control, vision systems, sensors, and machine controls into complete solutionsECAD Systems — advanced level; developing electrical designs, component libraries, and engineering standards using electrical design softwarePower Distribution & Control Systems — advanced level; designing electrical power systems, motor controls,



and industrial control architecturesTechnical Leadership — intermediate level; providing guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to designers and engineersProblem Solving — advanced level; identifying technical challenges and driving innovative, practical solutionsCommunication — intermediate level; effectively communicating technical concepts, design changes, and project updates to stakeholdersStandards & Compliance — advanced level; ensuring designs complywith applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and company standardsProject Execution — intermediate level; managing priorities anddelivering high-quality design outputs on scheduleCross-Functional Collaboration — advanced level; working effectively with mechanical, automation, manufacturing, sourcing, and field service teamsTechnical Documentation — advanced level; producing accurate and comprehensive engineering documentation that supports execution and knowledge sharingContinuous Improvement — intermediate level; driving standardizationand process enhancements to improve engineering efficiency and qualityWhat qualifications will make you successful?
Proven experience designing electrical systems for industrial automation equipment, special-purpose machinery, or manufacturing applicationsStrong knowledge of electrical power distribution, control systems, industrial networking, and automation technologiesExperience developing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and manufacturing documentationUnderstanding of robotics, servo drives, machine safety systems, vision systems, and automated production equipmentAbility to perform electrical calculations and validate designs through simulation, testing, and experimental methodsExperience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing operationsStrong ability to collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholdersDemonstrated commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellenceAbility to mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practicesWillingness to travel as needed to support equipment installation, startup, and customer-facing activitiesWhat's in it for me?
