Lead Accountant | Hermosillo, Sonora

Intugo, in partnership with a foreign company specializing in outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, tax, finance, fractional CFO, payroll, and HR services, is looking for an experienced Lead Accountant to join the team.

This opportunity is designed for an experienced accounting professional who can take full ownership of financial reporting and accounting processes while also providing guidance and direction to other members of the accounting team.

The adecuado candidate is not only comfortable performing accounting tasks but is also capable of independently reviewing financial information, identifying accounting issues, determining the appropriate corrective action, and ensuring financial statements are complete and accurate.

What You’ll Do

- Own the accounting cycle and financial close process for a portfolio of business clients.
- Prepare, review, and take ownership of monthly financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and related supporting schedules.
- Review general ledger activity and financial results to identify errors, inconsistencies, unusual transactions, or accounting issues.
- Independently investigate accounting discrepancies and determine the appropriate corrections or adjusting journal entries.
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, provisions, and account analysis.
- Ensure AP, AR, cash, payroll, and other accounting activities are properly reflected in the general ledger.
- Review the work of accountants or accounting staff and provide guidance, feedback, and direction when corrections are required.
- Help prioritize accounting activities and ensure the team completes assigned work accurately and within deadlines.
- Serve as a key accounting contact for clients, explaining financial results, resolving accounting questions, and following up on outstanding items.




- Work closely with Accounting Managers and other leadership to resolve complex accounting matters.
- Analyze financial statements and identify trends, variances, risks, or areas requiring further investigation.
- Support the implementation and improvement of accounting systems, applications, workflows, and internal processes.
- Document accounting procedures, controls, and client-specific processes.
- Assist with onboarding new clients and understanding their accounting structure, historical activity, and reporting requirements.
- Perform ad hoc accounting and financial analysis to support client and management decision-making.

What We’re Looking ForRequired

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including senior or lead-level responsibilities.
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and owning financial statements, not only providing supporting information.
- Strong understanding of the general ledger, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, AP, AR, and cash activity.
- Ability to independently identify accounting discrepancies, investigate their root cause, and determine the appropriate correction.
- Experience reviewing accounting work completed by other team members.
- Ability to provide direction, guidance, and technical support to accountants or accounting staff.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial information beyond transactional accounting.
- Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities.




- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients regarding accounting questions, financial results, and outstanding issues.
- Proactive and independent working style with the ability to make accounting decisions with limited supervision.

Highly Preferred

- Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Lead Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, General Ledger Accountant, or Accounting Manager.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or similar cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Experience preparing financial statements for multiple entities or multiple clients.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring, reviewing, or directing the work of other accountants.
- Experience working with a U.S.-based company or U.S. clients.
- Experience in outsourced accounting, public accounting, professional services, or a multi-client accounting environment.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP.

The Profile We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who can go beyond completing assigned accounting tasks.

The right candidate should be comfortable receiving a set of books, reviewing the accounting activity, identifying what does not look correct, investigating the issue, making or recommending the necessary adjustments, and ultimately taking responsibility for the accuracy of the financial statements.

This person should also be able to review the work of other accountants, identify where additional analysis or corrections are needed, and provide clear direction to help the team successfully complete the accounting close.

Candidates with strong financial statement ownership, independent accounting problem-solving skills, team leadership experience, QuickBooks knowledge, and previous experience working with U.S. clients may qualify for the higher end of the salary range.
