Citi is looking for an Application Support Analyst to deliver reliable, high-quality L2 support for critical banking and financial applications that keep integral operations running. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of technology and business, resolving complex application issues, coordinating with technology teams, and contributing to the stability and performance of systems that matter. You will work independently on the majority of issues while collaborating closely with development and infrastructure partners to deliver lasting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver L2 application support for banking and financial systems, resolving incidents and stakeholder queries by providing short-term fixes and coordinating long-term remediation with the relevant technology partners.
- Manage the full incident and problem lifecycle using structured management tools, ensuring timely resolution, accurate tracking, and clear reporting to stakeholders.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users and internal technology teams and vendors, translating technical findings into clear, actionable communications.
- Coordinate post-release validation checks following application deployments and infrastructure updates to confirm system integrity and performance.
- Analyse applications to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues, and escalat findings with well-reasoned recommendations for remediation.
- Collaborate with development colleagues to prioritize bug fixes and align on technical requirements, ensuring issues are resolved in order of business impact.
- Develop and maintain technical support documentation, keeping procedures current and accessible to the wider support team.
- Participate actively in disaster recovery assessments and stability, efficiency, and effectiveness initiatives within the application support function.
Required qualifications & skills
- More than 3 years of experience in application support roles focused on banking or financial applications, at L2 service level (not infrastructure or hardware support).
- Hands‑on experience with Linux, Unix, SQL, Mainframe, and Oracle Database in a production support environment.
- Practical knowledge of incident and problem management practices, including the use of monitoring and tracking tools, aligned to ITIL frameworks.
- Ability to assess complex situations using multiple data sources and communicate well‑structured findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to exchange sensitive or technical information clearly and diplomatically.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload independently across concurrent issues with varying levels of business impact.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Beneficial skills & qualifications

- Familiarity with financial markets or financial products, providing context when supporting business‑critical applications.

The Apps Support Sr Analyst
The Apps Support Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in‑depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work‑flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in‑depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub‑function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Responsibilities
- The Application Support Senior Analyst provides technical and business support for users of Citi Applcations. This includes providing quick resolutions to app issues, driving stability, efficiency and effectiveness improvements to help us and the business succeed.
- Maintains application systems that have completed the development stage and are running in the daily operations of the firm.
- Manages, maintains and supports applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality and functionality against service level expectations.
- Start of day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover.
- Performs same day risk reconciliations.
- Develops and maintains technical support documentation.
- Identifies ways to maximize the potential of the applications used.
- Assesses risk and impact of production issues and escalates to business and technology management in a timely manner.
- Ensures that storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly.
- Formulates and defines scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
- Reviews and develops application contingency planning to ensure availability to users.
- Partners with appropriate development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
- Participates in application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production.
- Engages in post‑implementation analysis to ensure successful system design and functionality.
- Considers implications of the application of technology to the current environment. Identifies risks, vulnerabilities and security issues; communicates impact.
- Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps to define operating standards and processes.
- Acts as a liaison between users/traders, interfacing internal technology groups and vendors.
- Expected to be able to raise problems to appropriate technology and business teams, while adhering to Service Level Agreements.
- Acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts.

Recommended Qualifications
- 5‑8 years experience in an Application Support role.
- Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications.
- Experience with some programming languages and willingness/ability to learn.
- Advanced execution capabilities and ability to adjust quickly to changes and re‑prioritization.
- Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non‑IT staff can understand.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
