Reporting to the Production Manager, The Production Supervisor provides a range of hands-on production tasks and planning for the operations at D’Arrigo California. This individual will be responsible for all the production related operations such as data recording and analysis, maximizing profitability and productivity in the production area. Required to take an active role in ensuring product grown meets quality standards. Provides leadership, direction and coaching to Mexico growers regarding production activities. This includes but not limited to essential functions, land prep, irrigations, material applications, and food safety practices. The role necessitates daily travel to Mexico to closely oversee local growers to maximize efficiency in the overall farming operations and ensure alignment with the company’s quality and productivity standards.

Oversee the day-to-day farm operations for the assigned acreage throughout the production season to ensure tasks for production are completed on time and in accordance to company standards. This includes but is not limited to land prep, planting, irrigation, fertilizer and chemical applications and food safety protocols.
Walk fields regularly to assess crop growth progression and communicate issues impacting yield to leadership in a timely manner.
Collaborates closely with the Thin & Hoe Foreperson to improve operational efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Adaptability to change in situations and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple priorities.
Promptly identify, evaluate, and report production, safety, quality, or compliance issues to the appropriate leadership.
Exercise independent judgment and authority to stop, delay, or redirect work activities that are unnecessary, unsafe, or inconsistent with established growing, quality, food safety, or operational standards.
Accurately document and maintain detailed records of production operations and maintain accurate VPV production updates throughout the production cycle to support performance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop continuous improvements within the growing process through constant training.
Monitor crop quality, plant health, maturity, and field conditions throughout the production cycle and communicate concerns that may affect yield, harvest timing, or product quality.
Coordinate production activities with growers and internal departments to support planting schedules,
irrigation needs, crop readiness, harvest planning, and established production priorities.
Build a working relationship with Mexico growers and provide direction, coaching, and follow-up regarding company production standards, food safety practices, documentation requirements, and corrective actions.
Review production data, crop forecasts, and field observations to identify operational risks, variances, and opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and resource utilization.
Support compliance with company safety, food safety, field sanitation, traceability, and environmental requirements and promptly elevate identified deficiencies.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
This position requires regular driving as an essential job function in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the Production process
Regular and consistent attendance is mandatory.

Work environment:
This is a seasonal position with an expected duration of 10 months, based on operational requirements and production schedules.
Typical farm management hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends as needed.
Planting and harvest seasons require extended hours, early mornings, late evenings, and weekend availability.
On-call availability may be required during critical operational periods.
Fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Up to 90% outside work and rest of the time in office setting.
Physical requirements:
Walking and working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working on uneven terrain.
Frequent driving between farm sites and operational locations.
Position requires daily travel to Mexico
Required education and experience:
Minimum 2 years production supervisory experience, preferably in horticulture/food safety.
Previous experience in Production & Labor scheduling is a plus.
Agronomy, food science, or quality management background preferred.
Understanding of crop, soil, irrigation, fertilization, pest and chemical applications desired.
Effective reporting and communication skills
Strong data analytical skills, able to form action plan based on numerical results.
Ability to prioritize, adapt and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment.
Work independently, plan work & achieve required results.
Inventory management experience/knowledge is a plus.
Self-starter, driven to perform, and curious to learn.
Possess a strong work ethic.
Proficiency in app-based navigation and programs.
Professional fluency in English and Spanish with strong verbal and listening skills is required.
Proficient in Microsoft operating systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Must be legally authorized to travel across the U.S.–Mexico border as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred education and experience:
Bachelor’s in agriculture, crop science, horticulture, soil science, or related field.
Prior farming operations experience with a preference toward vegetables crops.
Knowledgeable in irrigation methods, farm equipment operations, agronomy and entomology.
Experience supervising and managing outside growers, ensuring efficient task completion and adherence to company standards.
CCA/PCA License
