Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Compliance specialist The EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing industrial safety, hygiene, and environmental programs necessary to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions. Proposes measures to prevent unsafe conditions, environmental protection to comply with the requirements of the applicable Mexican regulations and legislation, as well as the internal policies and procedures in the Company.
This role is responsible for supporting compliance with occupational health and safety laws and regulations through effective case management, document control, and follow-up on regulatory inspections. It contributes to minimizing compliance risks while ensuring adherence to company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Industrial Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Civil Protection, or similar.
- Similar position (2-3 years)
- Knowledge on NOMs.
- Intermediate English level (B1+).
- Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinated compliance with Mexican Occupational Health & Safety regulations (STPS NOMs), ensuring adherence to legal and corporate requirements.
- Supported and managed federal, state, and municipal inspections, including Labor Ministry, Civil Protection, and Fire Department audits.
- Led workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-up to maintain a safe work environment.
- Coordinated fire protection programs, including fire extinguishers, hydrants, detectors, first aid kits, and emergency response equipment.
- Organized and executed emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency brigade activities in compliance with Civil Protection requirements.
- Developed and delivered safety training, awareness campaigns, and internal communications on Occupational Health & Safety topics.
- Conducted annual compliance assessments and monitored regulatory changes, implementing action plans to address identified gaps.
- Supported implementation of psychosocial risk prevention, telework compliance, and workplace violence prevention programs.
- Prepared safety reports, presentations, audits, and compliance documentation for management and regulatory authorities.
- Coordinated vendor services, maintenance activities, fumigation programs, and related purchasing processes to support workplace safety and compliance.
