Position Summary The CFO Service Designer defines, authors, maintains, and governs customer-level requirements supporting current and future vehicle programs. This role collaborates closely with Product Planning, Core Engineering, Systems Engineering, HMI, Software, Hardware, and Validation teams to translate customer and business needs into clear, testable, and traceable requirements, ensuring their successful delivery in accordance with corporate milestones.

In addition to requirements engineering, the Service Designer supports vehicle performance validation, voice-of-the-customer development, and cross-functional technical issue resolution across assigned vehicle projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Requirements Ownership & Authoring: Own the creation, authoring, review, approval, baselining, maintenance, and status tracking of technical requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Requirement Analysis: Ensure requirements are clear, complete, consistent, feasible, unambiguous, testable, traceable, and aligned with program objectives, architecture constraints, applicable standards, and customer expectations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate requirement reviews and resolve gaps, conflicts, assumptions, and interface dependencies with integral stakeholders while developing and applying consistent requirement-authoring standards.
- Feature & Platform Definition: Lead the definition and decomposition of customer and stakeholder needs into platform-level functional and non-functional requirements for new features. Tailor and manage approved platform requirements for program-specific applications.
- Voice of Customer (VoC) Integration: Utilize competitive benchmarking, voice-of-customer clinics, field insights, and stakeholder feedback to identify customer needs and convert them into measurable requirement inputs and acceptance criteria.

- Traceability & Change Management: Maintain bidirectional traceability from customer needs through system, subsystem, software, hardware, and validation requirements. Assess requirement changes for technical, timing, cost, compliance, and validation impact, managing changes through formal change-control processes.
- Validation & Safety Alignment: Partner with validation teams to establish acceptance criteria, confirm requirement coverage, and define verification methods. Ensure applicable safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity, regulatory, and industry requirements are incorporated.
- Vehicle Development & Testing Support: Support vehicle validation, including Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R;) execution, new feature integration, ride and drive events, overnight evaluations, validation trips, and pilot build activities.
- Issue Resolution: Lead issue resolution processes by assembling cross-functional engineering teams to identify root causes and establish corrective action plans.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (ABET accredited or equivalent).
- Experience: 1 to 5 years of automotive product development experience, including direct responsibility for requirements definition, authoring, analysis, review, or lifecycle management.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing),

with the ability to write precise technical requirements and simplify complex issues for non-technical audiences.
- Systems Engineering Knowledge: Working knowledge of automotive systems engineering, including functional decomposition, interfaces, architectures, and the interaction of software, hardware, network, and physical components.
- Standards & Regulations: Working knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety and the ability to interpret applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Requirements Practices: Knowledge of INCOSE-aligned requirement engineering practices (elicitation, decomposition, allocation, analysis, traceability, verification, validation, and change management).
- General Skills: Valid driver’s license, strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced Degree: Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems Engineering.
- ALM/Requirements Tools: Hands-on experience using IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next Gen, IBM DOORS, or comparable application lifecycle management (ALM) tools.
- Architecture Analysis: Experience interpreting system architecture and network topology diagrams to identify interfaces, dependencies, data flows, and requirement allocations.
- Domain Expertise: Knowledge of at least one automotive functional domain (Body, Chassis, Electrical, Propulsion/Electrified Systems, Interior, Infotainment, Connectivity, or ADAS/Autonomous Driving).
- Process Certifications: DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Manufacturing & Quality: Familiarity with manufacturing assembly, quality processes, and component releasing.
