This is your opportunity to join Strattec as Electrical Product Engineer.
Objective: Responsible for the design, development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement of automotive electronic and electromechanical products. This role serves as a technical leader for hardware development activities, supporting product engineering, manufacturing, quality, customers, and global engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
The position combines hands-on electrical design, PCB development, EMI/EMC compliance, failure analysis, product validation, and advanced technology research while driving technical solutions that meet customer, quality, reliability, safety, and cost objectives.
Main Duties:
Electrical Hardware Design & Development
- Design and develop electronic circuits, schematics, and PCB layouts for automotive and electromechanical products.
- Perform mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, testing, and validation.
- Develop and validate products incorporating wireless technologies such as BLE, RF, NFC, and UWB.
- Support battery-powered, low-power, motor-driven, and solenoid-based electronic systems.
- Select and qualify electronic components considering performance, availability, cost, compliance, and obsolescence risks.
Product Testing & Validation
- Lead electrical system and component testing activities from development through production.
- Support corporate laboratories and manufacturing teams in defining and executing validation plans.
- Conduct EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing and support product certification activities at accredited laboratories.
- Develop and execute customer-specific validation plans and regulatory testing requirements.
- Perform electric motor development, analysis, and testing.
Failure Analysis & Problem Solving
- Investigate field, laboratory, manufacturing, and warranty failures.
- Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA, DFMEA, DFM, and DFA.
- Perform Design Review by Test Results (DRBTR) teardown investigations on tested products.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reliability.
Manufacturing & Product Launch Support
- Provide technical support during pre-production, production, and post-production activities.
- Troubleshoot assembly line and field issues involving electrical and electromechanical systems.
- Identify and implement improvements that enhance manufacturability, reliability, quality, and assembly efficiency.
- Generate and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
Technical Leadership & Project Management
- Serve as the primary technical focal point between engineering, software, manufacturing, quality, management, suppliers, and customers.
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, DFMEA sessions, and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
- Monitor engineering program status and communicate progress to Engineering and Program Management.
- Represent the company in customer development meetings and technical reviews.
- Support global engineering initiatives and collaborate with international teams, customers, and suppliers.
Engineering Tools & Advanced Technology
- Manage and optimize engineering tools and software platforms including Altium Designer, OrCAD, PSpice, LTspice, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Support license administration, technical support, and strategic planning of hardware design resources.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, microcontrollers, microprocessors, smart sensors, and advanced engineering methodologies for future product development.
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including:
- Electrical schematics
- PCB documentation
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Validation procedures
- Test reports
- Engineering specifications
- Technical analyses and presentations
- Support internal, customer, and external audits through proper technical documentation and objective evidence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related.
- 5 years experience in electrical system product development.
- English language. High proficiency
- Visa laser
- Availability to travel (30-50%)
Knowledge:
- Automotive electronics
- Strong knowledge of electronic circuit design and component functionality.
- Experience designing and validating electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and electrical laboratory equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits and perform circuit-level analysis.
- Experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with soldering, prototyping, and product teardown analysis.
- Experience in electrical testing and validation of electronic and electromechanical products.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety requirements (ISO 26262).
- Experience applying formal root cause analysis methodologies (8D, Red X, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
