The contractor will be expected to work during Study.com's Pacific Time business hours Monday through Friday. Additionally, they will need to use their own computer and have reliable access to high-speed internet.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and pitch native video concepts for
Study.com
's YouTube and TikTok channels. Draw on what's working across the platforms, not only in education: listicles, explainers, visual essays, "study with me," storytimes, reaction and POV formats.
- Study retention curves, engagement, and comment sections, then pair those insights with your platform instincts to decide what to make next and test it fast.
- Write and punch up scripts with a focus on the first 3 seconds: hooks, pacing, payoff, and retention.
- Give creators and editors direct creative feedback on delivery, cuts, captions, sound, and visual structure. The aim is videos that feel native to each platform, not like branded ads.
- Recruit, onboard, and coach a roster of freelance creators and editors. Help them find their on-camera voice while keeping quality and output consistent.
- Stay on top of trends, sounds, formats, and shifts in the algorithms. Know when to jump on a trend and when to skip it.
- Own titles, thumbnails, captions, and hashtags for discoverability on each platform.
- Study retention curves, engagement,
and comment sections to find what's landing. Turn those insights into new formats and test them fast.
- Run lightweight production workflows that keep content moving without slowing creators down.
- Use AI tools to speed up ideation, scripting, and production (Claude, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, etc.).
What You'll Bring to the Role:
- 2–3 years creating, producing, or managing TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube content, either in-house, at an agency, or as a creator yourself.
- An experimental mindset. You're comfortable testing new ideas, learning from the results, and iterating quickly.
- A portfolio of videos you made or channels you grew, with a clear sense of why they worked.
- A strong instinct for hooks, storytelling, and pacing. You can explain why a video works, not just whether it does.
- Fluency in YouTube and TikTok culture, formats, and analytics, plus comfort turning data into creative decisions.
- Experience directing or collaborating with creators and editors, with feedback that makes the work better and keeps people motivated.
- Organized enough to manage multiple creators and a steady publishing cadence.
Bonus:
you've run your own channel, been on camera, or built an audience from scratch.
