Senior Electrical Designer Join us as a Senior Electrical Designer where you will lead the development of innovative electrical and automation solutions for advanced manufacturing equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional engineering teams, influence design standards, and drive projects from concept through commissioning while contributing to the next generation of automated machines and production systems. What will you do? Lead the design of electrical and communication systems for automated machinery and high-volume manufacturing processes Develop detailed electrical engineering deliverables including schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, and bills of materials Apply expertise in automation technologies including robotics, servo systems, vision systems, conveyors, pick-and-place applications, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial control systems Perform electrical calculations to properly size electrical devices, conductors, protection systems, and power distribution components Conduct simulations, testing, and design validation activities to optimize system performance prior to procurement and installation Create and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, engineering reports, operating manuals, and installation requirements Review supplier drawings and technical submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and dimensional requirements Support sourcing and procurement activities by selecting electrical components and evaluating technical solutions from suppliers Collaborate with automation engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment is assembled and commissioned according to design intent and quality requirements Drive the development and standardization of ECAD libraries, electrical design practices,
and engineering standards across the organization Participate in technical design reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning activities to achieve safety, quality, reliability, and production performance objectives Provide technical support to manufacturing sites and project stakeholders following equipment deployment Partner with engineering teams across North America and global locations to develop innovative solutions and continuous improvements for automated equipment and manufacturing processes What are the key skills we are looking for? Electrical Design — advanced level; developing complex electrical systems for automated machinery and industrial manufacturing applications Industrial Automation — advanced level; integrating robotics, motion control, vision systems, sensors, and machine controls into complete solutions ECAD Systems — advanced level; developing electrical designs, component libraries, and engineering standards using electrical design software Power Distribution & Control Systems — advanced level; designing electrical power systems, motor controls, and industrial control architectures Technical Leadership — intermediate level; providing guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to designers and engineers Problem Solving — advanced level; identifying technical challenges and driving innovative, practical solutions Communication — intermediate level; effectively communicating technical concepts, design changes,
and project updates to stakeholders Standards & Compliance — advanced level; ensuring designs comply with applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and company standards Project Execution — intermediate level; managing priorities and delivering high-quality design outputs on schedule Cross-Functional Collaboration — advanced level; working effectively with mechanical, automation, manufacturing, sourcing, and field service teams Technical Documentation — advanced level; producing accurate and comprehensive engineering documentation that supports execution and knowledge sharing Continuous Improvement — intermediate level; driving standardization and process enhancements to improve engineering efficiency and quality What qualifications will make you successful? Proven experience designing electrical systems for industrial automation equipment, special-purpose machinery, or manufacturing applications Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, control systems, industrial networking, and automation technologies Experience developing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and manufacturing documentation Understanding of robotics, servo drives, machine safety systems, vision systems, and automated production equipment Ability to perform electrical calculations and validate designs through simulation, testing, and experimental methods Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing operations Strong ability to collaborate with integral engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence Ability to mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices Willingness to travel as needed to support equipment installation, startup, and customer-facing activities
