About t he Role

As a Lead Backend Java Developer, you will anchor the technical architecture of high-throughput e-commerce systems, designing scalable, secure, and resilient server-side applications. Beyond hands-on development, you will act as a technical leader—critically evaluating business requirements, challenging assumptions, and proactively driving system improvements for platforms handling millions of daily updates.

This role is critical to transforming high-level business goals into robust architecture. Working directly with cross-functional leadership, international team members, and dedicated frontend units, you will bring a strategic consultant mindset to bridge business requirements and modern distributed design using AI-first workflows and clean code practices.





Key Responsibilities

Architect and design high-performance, secure backend systems, APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, SOAP), and relational database schemas using modern Java and framework ecosystems.

Lead architectural decisions by evaluating business requirements, proposing proactive optimizations, and refactoring core services to support high-volume data streams and caching layers.

Optimize complex database queries and messaging flows to handle large-scale traffic, real-time inventory synchronization, and complex order routing.

Collaborate with cross-functional leadership, product managers, and international teams (including overlap with Europe-based engineering groups) to align strategy with execution.

Own end-to-end system reliability, rapid root-cause analysis, and production troubleshooting while establishing best practices across the engineering workflow.
