NOW HIRING: LEGAL WRITER Fully Remote | $2,500 USD/month A COVER LETTER IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION

WE ARE ALL ABOUT CLIENT SERVICE AND CLIENT OUTCOMES.
About DMT Law Firm
DMT Law Firm PC is a boutique entertainment immigration law firm based in Los Angeles, California. We have a thriving O and P visa practice that is predominantly music industry related, alongside other entertainment and business immigration work. We work with globally renowned musicians, their managers, agents, and entertainment companies worldwide.
We are looking for a Legal Writer to grow with the firm and be a core part of how we build the legal arguments that win our clients' cases. Our culture is friendly and supportive, but it requires self-motivated and responsible individuals. Expectations are high — our clients are high-profile and the strength of our written work product directly determines their outcomes.
About the Role
As a Legal Writer, you are responsible for researching, collecting, and organizing evidence, and drafting the legal memoranda that form the substantive argument of each petition. You will work directly with the O and P nonimmigrant visa criteria, building fact-based, non-conclusory arguments that demonstrate — under a preponderance of the evidence standard — that our clients qualify.
This means independently locating publicly available evidence so that we ask our clients for as little as possible.
Your writing should educate an adjudicator who has never heard of our client, your industry data, or the standards involved — nothing can be assumed or left conclusory.
Requirements
- JD or formal legal education required.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills — this is a writing-intensive role and the quality of your drafting is the core of the job
- Comfortable working with statutes, regulations, and evidence to build arguments from fact to law, not simply asserting conclusions
- Resourceful and tenacious researcher — able to independently track down publicly available evidence (articles, streaming/chart data, industry statistics, etc.) rather than defaulting to asking the client
- Meticulous attention to detail; you catch what is missing, inconsistent, or insufficiently supported before it becomes a problem
- Comfortable using data and statistics to strengthen a written argument
- Interest in or knowledge of the entertainment industry (music, TV/film) is a strong plus
- Looking for someone interested in long-term growth with the firm
- Additional languages are a plus
Work Setup
- Fully remote
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Adaptable schedule
- Paid time off
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- JD or other formal legal education/training required (see Requirements above)
Application Questions Please answer the following questions in your cover letter or as a separate document:
- Describe a time you had to research and build a written argument or case using limited, incomplete, or scattered information under a deadline. How did you approach it, and what was the outcome?
- You are drafting a legal argument and cannot find enough evidence to support one of the required elements. Before asking the client for more information, what steps do you take to try to find it yourself?
- Below is a fact: "Maria is the lead singer of a band with 500,000 monthly Spotify listeners." In one short paragraph, turn this fact into a persuasive legal argument — without simply asserting the conclusion (i.e., do not just say "therefore she is distinguished/critical"; show your reasoning).
- What draws you to immigration law generally, and entertainment immigration specifically — and what do you know about the world our clients come from?
How to Apply To be considered, please submit:
- Your updated resume (PDF preferred)
- A cover letter is required, no exceptions
- Answers to the application questions above
- A short writing sample required. This can be a legal memo, brief, motion excerpt, or any other piece of persuasive/analytical writing you have drafted
We review applications on a rolling basis. Due to application volume, we are only able to respond to candidates moving forward in the process. DMT Law Firm PC | Equal Opportunity Employer Job Type: Full-time Pay: $2,500.00 per month (depending on experience) Work Location: Remote
