Please submit your resume in English!
We are hiring a Production & Materials Planner to own planning for one of our brands end to end: how many units we need, where they are made, which components to buy, and when. This is a hands-on role for someone who has planned production with a co-manufacturer and built component plans from scratch.
Location: Remote, Mexico (must overlap with US Pacific Time)
Type: Full-time employee through our Employer of Record in Mexico
Compensation: $21,600 to $38,400 USD gross annual salary, plus Mexican statutory benefits
Reports to: Founder & President
ABOUT THE ROLE The brand has three product lines today, each built from components we buy, and a fourth planned:
- Line A (8 components per size) is assembled in our own warehouse in Los Angeles.
- Line B (6 components per size) is made by an outside co-manufacturer. We buy the components and ship them to the co-manufacturer.
- Line B2 (2 sizes, 6 components per size) is a separate version of Line B with its own components, assembled in our Los Angeles warehouse.
- Line C is planned with a new manufacturer in China in the coming months. We will buy the components and ship them to that manufacturer.
The brand sells through two Shopify stores, Chewy, wholesale accounts, and Amazon FBA. Demand is steady rather than seasonal, so the hard part of this job is production and materials, not forecasting.
ABOUT US
We are a multi-brand pet products company based in Los Angeles, selling across Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop, and major retailers. Our team works remotely across the US, Latin America, and Asia.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Forecasting and inventory
- Forecast finished-goods demand by SKU and channel: two Shopify stores, Chewy, wholesale, and Amazon.
- Decide how much finished stock each channel needs, and keep warehouse and Amazon inventory in balance.
- Plan and create Amazon FBA replenishment shipments, working within our Amazon storage limits.
Production planning
- Turn the forecast into a production schedule for each product line.
- Decide what is built in our warehouse (Lines A and B2)
and what outside manufacturers build, and when.
- Schedule warehouse assembly for Lines A and B2 with the warehouse team so it does not collide with their other work.
Components and purchasing
- Work out component needs from the production plan: what is needed, minus what is on hand, at the co-manufacturer, or already on order.
- Place component purchase orders, sized to supplier minimums and lead times.
- Track every open component order through to receipt.
Manufacturer management
- Manage our co-manufacturer day to day: production schedules, output, delays, and shortages.
- Plan and ship components to the co-manufacturer, and reconcile the component stock held at their facility.
- Help bring on our new manufacturer in China for Line C: build the plan around ocean freight and overseas lead times, and plan and track the components we ship to them.
Reporting
- Keep a clear, formula-driven planning file that anyone on the team can audit.
- Flag stockout, overstock, and component risks early, with a specific recommendation and date.
WHAT THIS ROLE DOES NOT OWN Pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with the co-manufacturer and suppliers stay with the Founder. You will run the day-to-day relationship and bring issues to her with a recommendation.
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
- Founder & President (your manager): reviews your production plans and purchase orders during your first 60 days, approves larger purchase orders after that, and owns pricing and contracts.
- Brand manager (marketing, wholesale, and Chewy): promotions, launches, wholesale orders, and Chewy demand that feed your forecast.
- Demand Planning and Inventory Manager (our other brands): shared warehouse capacity,
Amazon storage limits, and cycle count schedule.
- Warehouse team, Los Angeles: Line A and Line B2 assembly schedule, component receiving, cycle counts.
- Co-manufacturer: Line B production schedule, output, and component stock.
- New manufacturer, China (planned): Line C production schedule, lead times, and the components we supply.
- Component suppliers: orders, lead times, minimums, delivery dates.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 3+ years in production planning, materials planning, or supply planning at a consumer products manufacturer.
- Hands-on work with a co-manufacturer, copacker, or maquila, ideally where your company supplied the components.
- Experience working with an overseas manufacturer, ideally in China, including planning international component shipments, ocean freight, and import lead times.
- Experience working out component needs from a production plan and placing the purchase orders yourself.
- Experience forecasting finished-goods demand by SKU.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets. You can build a planning model from scratch, without SAP or another ERP, with formulas others can follow.
- Accurate purchase order sizing based on net requirements.
- Fluent written and spoken English, and working hours that overlap with US Pacific Time.
Nice to have
- CPIM or other APICS / ASCM certification.
- Amazon FBA replenishment and shipment creation experience.
- Selling to retailers or wholesale accounts such as Chewy.
- Experience in pet, household, personal care, or food and beverage products.
HIRING PROCESS
1. Screening call and first-round interview (about 45 minutes).
2. Technical assessment: inventory reconciliation and reorder planning (about 2 hours).
3. Paid planning exercise: a component and production plan for one product (about 1.5 hours).
4. Final interview with the Founder.
HOW TO APPLY
- Send your resume and a short note describing one time you planned production with a co-manufacturer: what you supplied, how you tracked it, and what went wrong.
