Role Purpose: The Accident Prevention Specialist is responsible for the management and execution of the company’s Accident Prevention Program, to include accident management and critical event management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Fleet Managers from an Accident Prevention standpoint by providing training of drivers over the phone.
- Lead efforts with the Driver Safety program in all forms, to include working with Fleet Managers, directly with drivers requiring progressive intervention or on critical events, taking corrective action, providing training, placing holds etc.
- Assist drivers to understand how accidents and/or incidents may have occurred; ensuring that they have proper tools and resources to avoid future accidents
- Perform weather monitoring during periods of inclement weather,
primarily during winter months and when active tropical storms are threatening landfall.
- Manage special projects as assigned, based on the parameters and expectations of the project
- Manage responsibilities related to camera technology. Be able to view and analyze video events. Determine what needs to be done to change Driver behavior. Follow through with the plan and coach Drivers on appropriate behavior.

- Ability to work with office equipment, utilizing computers for majority of tasks and must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. Must become an expert in company-specific programs such as TMW, RM Client, and AS400.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of hearing, with or without correction,
sufficiently to perceive normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication to facilitate meetings and work with internal customers and stakeholders by telephone and in person.
- Position may involve kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 25 pounds.
- Capable of sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and working with computer equipment.
- Capable of speaking, writing, and reading English fluently and possessing a good command of the language so that both written and verbal communications may be conducted in English with drivers and people of various levels of education and capabilities.
- Capable of visual acuity, with or without correction, sufficient to prepare and analyze data and figures, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
Education and Experience:
- College degree preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
- Transportation industry experience strongly preferred. Experience working in a safety capacity/department helpful
- Commercial driving experience in a Class A vehicle highly desired
