We are looking for a talented Senior Payroll Analyst to join our Payroll team for Cummins Services – HR Operations at Cummins Comercializadora in San Luis Potosí, SLP, Mexico.
Work Modality: Hybrid, 3 days on site, 2 days home office.
Job Summary
Reporting to the North America Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll operations for U.S. and Canadian employee populations, ensuring payroll calculations and processes are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable requirements and internal controls.
This role serves as a subject matter expert in payroll processing and calculation, managing complex payroll scenarios, troubleshooting pay and system-related issues, and ensuring the accuracy of earnings, deductions, taxes, and other payroll components.
The Senior Payroll Analyst also partners with Finance, HR, and other stakeholders, supports system configuration changes and UAT testing, performs root cause analysis, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and provides guidance and coaching to less experienced payroll team members.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Support U.S. multi-state and Canadian payroll operations, providing expertise in payroll calculation, processing, validation, and issue resolution.
- Execute and validate payroll activities in accordance with established payroll processing schedules, controls, and checklists, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Review pre-payroll and post-payroll results to identify and resolve discrepancies and minimize payroll processing errors.
- Manage complex payroll scenarios involving earnings, deductions, taxes, allowances, and other payroll components.
- Troubleshoot payroll and system-related data issues and resolve complex employee pay inquiries.
- Provide guidance and work directions to payroll team members to help ensure payroll processing deadlines and operational requirements are met.
- Respond to complex payroll-related inquiries from Finance, HR, employees, and other key stakeholders.
- Support the triage and resolution of payroll cases, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for payroll system configuration changes, enhancements, and implementations.
- Perform root cause analysis on payroll issues and develop solutions to prevent recurrence and improve payroll accuracy.
- Coach and mentor less experienced payroll team members, sharing payroll knowledge and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with payroll internal controls and applicable payroll-related regulatory and tax requirements.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes, controls, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of payroll process documentation and procedures.
- Support the review and preparation of payroll data required for tax filings, withholding requirements, year-end activities, and payroll reporting.
- Serve as a key internal resource for complex payroll-related inquiries and operational matters.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Minimum 4-6 years of progressive payroll experience for a US multi-state employer with at least 5,000 employees.
- Experience and understanding of integrations and impact to general ledger accounts
- Minimum 1 year experience using SAP Payroll system or ADP GlobalView (Processing Services model).
- Able to document requirements for system configuration changes and write test scripts to test changes based on knowledge of what processes are impacted by the change.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of work rules and tax requirements across Federal, State and Local jurisdictions and train subordinate team members
- Experience using Service Now or other case management system preferred.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and customer-focused in fast-paced environments.
- English proficiency is required.

Education, Licenses, And Certifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, administration or related.
