Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with Node.js, TypeScript, Integration, and SaaS Platform Experience for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico. Our client is a developer of a planning platform that links prospective community college students with universities.

You'll help our product and engineering teams. This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, build, and scale the systems that power student–university interactions. You’ll support critical APIs and services that enable real-time data, automation, and integrations — and you’ll have the chance to help us shape product direction at a foundational stage.

This role is for someone who thrives in fast-moving, high-growth environments, loves architecting elegant solutions to complex problems, and wants to see their work make an impact on the future of higher education.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, ideally in SaaS, EdTech, or high-growth startup environments.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, with the ability to learn and adapt to TypeScript/Express,

Python/FastAPI, and other modern technology stacks.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling RESTful APIs; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and NoSQL databases, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Experience working in cloud-native environments; GCP preferred, with AWS or Azure also considered.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Experience building automation, configuration-driven systems, ETL processes, and data ingestion workflows.
• Strong understanding of security best practices, including OAuth 2.0/OIDC, role-based and policy-based access control, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and FERPA.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Sentry.
• Experience designing distributed systems
