Accountant - Mexico

Location: Polanco Area, Mexico City

Contract Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: USD $1,500–$3,500/month, depending on English proficiency and experience

Language Requirements: Fluent Spanish and a minimum intermediate/conversational level of English

Our client is seeking a skilled Accountant with experience in Mexican accounting and tax compliance to join their growing team. You will play a key role in managing accounting records, tax obligations, financial reporting, and support for international clients. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's professional experience, technical knowledge, and level of English.

Key Responsibilities

- Process monthly accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and file monthly VAT (IVA), provisional income tax (ISR), and withholding tax returns with SAT.
- Manage CFDI and electronic invoicing compliance, including coordination with PAC providers.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Mexican accounting standards.
- Support the preparation of the Annual Corporate Income Tax Return (Declaración Anual de ISR) and related schedules and reconciliations.
- Coordinate payroll-related compliance activities, including IMSS and INFONAVIT requirements when applicable.
- Communicate with international clients in English to explain tax requirements, filing status, and deliverables.

Must-Have Qualifications





- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mexican accounting and tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of SAT regulations, CFDI, IVA, ISR, and Mexican accounting standards.
- Fluent Spanish and a minimum intermediate/conversational level of English.
- Experience using accounting systems such as CONTPAQi, Aspel, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with international or foreign-owned companies.
- Experience communicating directly with international clients in English.
- Knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS and financial reporting conversions.
- Experience working with EOR, PEO, or international expansion service providers.
- CPA (Contador Público Certificado) designation.

English Level & Compensation

- Intermediate/Conversational English: Candidates with relevant accounting experience and the ability to communicate effectively in professional situations.
- Advanced/Fluent English: Candidates with stronger technical experience and the ability to confidently manage direct communication with international clients.
- Final compensation within the USD $1,500–$3,500/month range will be determined based on professional experience, technical expertise, and English proficiency.
