Role Overview: The Senior System Technical Leader (SSTL) serves as the primary technical program management authority for one or more vehicle lines. Operating at the intersection of Design Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing, the SSTL drives full lifecycle system responsibility from concept through launch and End of Life (EOL). This role requires hands-on execution at assembly plants during vehicle launch phases to lead triage, problem-solving, and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

- Technical Program Management & Cross-Functional Leadership

- Single Point of Contact: Act as the primary liaison between design engineering teams, vehicle program management, plant manufacturing, and Tier 1/2 suppliers.
- System Performance & Constraints: Balance system functional requirements against critical constraints: cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality targets.
- Full Lifecycle Ownership: Manage concept studies, packaging, prototype procurement, supplier sourcing/tooling kickoff, validation, launch, value optimization (VAVE), and continuous quality improvement.

2. Vehicle Launch & Onsite Plant Support
- Launch Lead (Plant Onsite): Function as the primary technical lead at assembly facilities during Pre-Series, Job 1, and production ramp-up.
- Issue Resolution & Triage: Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving activities for technical and quality issues during launch, managing resources and communicating real-time status to executives.

3. E/E Architecture, Configuration & Integration
- Electronic Integration:

Ensure seamless integration of all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) across the target E/E vehicle architectures.
- Vehicle Configuration & EOL Tools: Author and maintain PROXI/Vehicle Configuration data within End-of-Line (EOL) and dealership service tools to ensure correct vehicle setup on the assembly line and in the field.
- Requirements Management: Author specifications for suppliers and manage the Design Change Request (DCR) process to align engineering changes with product planning and supplier feedback.

Position Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent ABET-accredited degree.
- Engineering Experience: Proven automotive experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier, with strong exposure to cooling/HVAC systems, thermal management, or E/E systems integration.
- Launch & Manufacturing Depth: Direct experience supporting plant operations, Process Verification (PV), Pre-Series, and Job 1 launches onsite.
- Communication & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams and external suppliers without direct formal authority.
- Travel:

Ability to travel to supplier sites and assembly plants across North America as required by launch schedules.

Preferred Technical Competencies
- EV & Thermal Systems: Understanding of Electric Vehicle (EV) thermal architecture, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and common multi-system interactions (e.g., battery cooling, passenger comfort).
- Software & Diagnostics: Familiarity with powertrain control logic, onboard diagnostic protocols, and ECU communication systems.
- Quality & Engineering Tools: Practical application of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) tools (proactive/reactive), root-cause methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), and working knowledge of UG/NX CAD systems.
- Testing & NVH: Experience in component and vehicle-level testing, including NVH evaluations for Air Induction, HVAC, or cooling modules.
- Cost Engineering: Solid grasp of component variable costs and tooling investment analysis.
