Major Function Every day, WWF's conservation teams across the globe rely on robust, secure cloud infrastructure to protect wildlife, engage communities, and drive climate action. As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you'll be the foundational force ensuring our technology systems enable this integral impact by managing mission-critical infrastructure that directly supports conservation programs.
In this position, you'll directly enable WWF-US and our network of Country Offices across South America, Central America, Africa, and Asia to operate seamlessly. Your work ensures that critical systems stay online so our teams can focus on what matters most: protecting nature at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Azure Infrastructure & Architecture
- Manage and support WWF's Azure infrastructure, including provisioning new subscriptions, resources, and roles to support organizational programs and initiatives
- Administer a variety of Azure virtual machines, including Windows domain controllers, IIS servers, SQL database servers, miscellaneous Windows servers, Red Hat Enterprise VMs, and redundant virtual firewalls in both production and staging environments
- Maintain, configure, and optimize WWF's Azure environment to ensure peak performance
- Significant expertise in building, deploying, and managing virtual machines in Azure from inception
Security, Compliance & Identity Management
- Create, update, and provide support for Azure Enterprise Apps for Single Sign-On and AZ Proxy
- Advanced skills in configuring Microsoft Entra tenants and domains, including DNS and VNET setup
- Experience in creating and administering user groups, Entra roles, role-assignable groups, and accounts
- Regularly update and patch systems to align with security requirements and best practices
- Manage DNS services within Azure and Cloudflare
- Expertise in using PowerShell and Graph API for Azure management, workflow automation, and deployment orchestration
Resilience, Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Develop, modify, review, and execute system backup strategies for all WWF platforms
- Develop and maintain WWF's High Availability and Disaster Recovery playbook to ensure continuous operational integrity and swift response during incidents
- Ensure the stability, resiliency, and robust protection of all cloud-based systems within WWF
Network & Connectivity Management
- Analyze, establish, and troubleshoot network connectivity across Azure resources, VNETs, sites, and tenants
- Strong understanding of networking, including firewalls and load balancers
- Demonstrated experience with computer resource management and monitoring
Technical Leadership & Escalation Support
- Serve as an escalation point for complex issues related to Azure, Entra ID, RBAC, and Microsoft 365 for the WWF Network Services team
- Lead projects end-to-end, ensuring alignment, transparency, and active engagement with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform work duties after-hours, on weekends, or holidays as needed from time to time because of unexpected critical outages or issues and planned maintenance windows
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities
- Degree in IT is highly preferred. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience including at least 6 years of relevant IT experience.
- Experience managing enterprise IT systems for an organization of equal or larger size.
- Extensive hands-on experience managing highly available and resilient Azure production systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, cloud architecture, cloud networking, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Windows and Linux servers.
- Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Possesses broad enterprise scale expertise across infrastructure, Azure cloud architecture, identity and access management with Entra ID, and emerging AI‑ driven‑ automation technologies—enabling the evaluation and recommendation of modernization opportunities, security improvements, and strategic technology replacements.
- Significant expertise in building, deploying, and managing virtual machines in Azure from inception.
- History of applying structured thinking to diagnose complex cloud or hybrid system issues and develop scalable, sustainable solutions.
- Proficient in managing Windows domains and Active Directory.
- Advanced skills in configuring Microsoft Entra tenants and domains, including DNS and VNET setup.
- Experience in creating and administering user groups, Entra roles, role-assignable groups, and accounts.
- Expertise in using PowerShell and Graph API for Azure management, workflow automation, and deployment orchestration.
- Familiarity with provisioning and managing access for technologies such as Fabric, Power BI, and Azure Foundry.
- Experience integrating Microsoft Copilot for M365, Copilot Studio, and Copilot Agents into enterprise Azure/M365 environments, including configuration and governance of data access controls.
- Strong understanding of networking, including firewalls and load balancers.
- Demonstrated experience with computer resource management and monitoring.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Prisma is a significant advantage.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and project management, including development of comprehensive project plans.
- Well-honed methodologies for diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues.
