Role Description The Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python/Java) — AI Tooling will design, build, and maintain backend services and tooling that support AI and machine learning workflows. This full-time role is hybrid, based in Toluca de Lerdo / Mexico City, MEX, with flexibility for partial work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing high-quality software in Python and Java, implementing robust APIs and microservices, and integrating AI models and data pipelines into production systems.





The role involves collaborating with data scientists and product teams to translate experimental models into reliable, scalable tools, as well as improving performance, monitoring, and observability of AI-related services. The engineer will review code, contribute to architectural decisions, ensure adherence to best practices in security and reliability, and mentor peers on software engineering and AI tooling standards.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with advanced experience in Python and Java for backend services and tooling.
- Experience in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and working with databases and cloud environments.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns for building maintainable, testable code.
- Experience integrating or supporting AI/ML, NLP, or data processing pipelines in production environments is highly beneficial.
- Comfort with modern development practices such as version control (Git), CI/CD, automated testing, and code review workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, collaborate across disciplines, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
